The birth of Tallon Gerlad P

Well its only been a week tomorrow but it feels like ages ago so i thought i'd better write it now before i forget...

So starting at the very beginning:

I went to my OB appointment Friday 2pm praying for an induction as i had severe pelvis pain that had kept me imobile for the last 2wks. My due date was 30th Nov so was only a week early. He checked me out, was only just 1cm dialated so he did a stretch and sweep and said it was good enough for induction if thats what i wanted.....but he couldn't get me in until Mon night for a Tuesday induction....we said that ok we'll take it.

Had a lovely dinner out with friends fri night and did all my xmas shopping saturday.....mum and sis came over and cooked me dinenr sat night and we were all enjoying a game of Scene it when i stood to go the loo and my waters broke! monitored it with a pad and yup was definately my waters so phoned teh hosp they said even though i wasn't having any contractions i had to go up so they could check bubs.

Took my time and got up to the hosp 11:30 Sat night, bubs was doing fine so they gave me a sleeping pill and said they'd start the drip in the morning....went to sleep about midnight.

Woke up 2am to go the loo and found i had some slight cramping, called the nurse and she started timing them and they were coming every five minutes on the dot and got resonably painful in the 20mins she monitored....checked and i was 5cm dilated....

moved to the birthing suite, had a shower and by now had to concentrate on my breathing...got out of the shower at 3am and thats when DH phoned our support person (i wouldn't let him leave me whislt i was in the shower) jumped on the bed and started working the gas and air. Decided it was getting too painful and mentioned to the midwife that i may just want that epi....she just laughed and said "hunny your doing great, you're 8cm already" so i concentrated on my breathing and my OB walked in did an internal and went "OK Simone i need you to push now!!!"

Three contractions later i was holding my little Tallon after just 1hour and 52mins of labour with not even a graze!!!!!.....3mins later the support person and my mum arrived to the sound of his crying!

    Name: Tallon Gerald Powell
    DOB: 23/11/08
    Time: 0352
    Weight: 3280 (7lb2)
    Length: 52cm
Head Circ: 33cm?? (i think heehee)
    Entire labour: 7hrs 52mins
    Active labour: 1hr 52mins

Feeling great....Me and Bubs have recovered SOOO rapidly and he is feeding great thanks to the CLB routine and only has one feed through the night (that i have to wake him for)

Renstar - the CLB routine is a book by Gina Ford called "The New Contented Little Baby Book". It's written by an english nanny (before super nanny became famous) and i used it with DS1 but didn't rave about it too much as i wasn't sure if his sleeping success was due to me being lucky or the routines....

With Tallon when i was demand feeding him in hospital it was feeding every two hours from 6pm till some time in the morning....as soon as i got him home and started the routine he has slept from 7pm till 7am with me waking him at 10pm and 3am (he is fast asleep i have to wake him myself)

And according to her routines he will be sleeping from 11pm till 7am by 8wks! (Worked with theo)

When you read the book she sounds extrememly strict but you just take what you want from it and change it to suit your family needs....she explains why what aspects are important and how to adapt them if you need to

She also does Toilet training, toddler routines and routines for twins!

Ok after that rant (can you tell im a fan!) ill leave you to it heehee

Smoz - Great to read your birth story hon. Sounds like you had a dream birthing experience. I wish you and your little fella all the very best.

BTW - I used that book with DD1. I found it was excellent and suited DD1...DD2 a completely different story
