congratulations on the birth of Felix - great name!!!
Well...where do I start? Probably 3 years ago when we first started trying to have a baby. We figured it might not happen straight away and tried not to stress when after a few months nothing was happening. Even after a year, we kept saying to ourselves “it will happen…just give it time”. And time, it did take. After 3 long years, with many tears shed following disappointment after disappointment, we saw the two blue lines that we had been longing to see.
At first it was surreal…us? Pregnant? That’s what happens to other people! But…with guarded joy and excitement we started to watch our little baby grow and grow. I was fortunate to have an amazing pregnany, free of scares and side effects. Each scan, we would hear about how our little “ziggy” was growing so beautifully…it was a miracle in the making.
There were a couple of ‘hitches’ along the way…there were difficulties with our Doctor resulting in a late Doctor change (at 34 weeks) and to-ing and fro-ing about how “Ziggy” was going to enter this world. I was so hoping for a vaginal delivery but alas…it wasn’t meant to be. And to be honest, now…I’m totally at peace with how our little boy entered the world. The most important thing was that he arrived safe and sound…whether it was though the ‘door’ or the ‘window’, no longer seemed to be so important.
So…on Tuesday 21 August, “ziggy” was to be born. I was 8 days overdue, “ziggy” was sitting very high (nowhere near engaged) and my cervix was firmly shut. We went into theatre first thing in the morning. Admittedly, I was scared but I knew my little baby was also soon to arrive…how amazing!
At 9:09am, young “ziggy” entered the world…”It’s a boy!!!”, proudly announced DH.
Wow! A little boy! Felix George…and he is beautiful.
A wonderful gift from God…our little miracle!
We so look forward to watching our little boy grow and flourish. He’s a joy to our family…a much awaited, much loved addition. We’re just thrilled!
