Monday 10th Nov, 7.56pm
I was sitting at the computer, I had just put alyssa to bed when i got my first contraction, it lasted 30 seconds, followed by another just 5 minutes later.
At first i wasn't sure, thought maybe they were BH as they weren't very painful and I was easily coping with them, but i quickly realised it was real and i would be holding my baby girl sometime soon.
I continued with updating myself on the forums before i finally got off at 8.30pm, soon after i told DP he should be prepared to turn off his game soon as i was having some pains.

I called the hosp at 9.30pm (by this time my contractions were now 3-4 minutes apart and lasting between 40-60second, they told me to give it another
half an hour and see how things got considering my first labour had been almost 12hrs. I told DP what they said and he immediately got up, got dressed and even put his shoes on, i told him to wait just
a little longer and then we would get going but i wanted to be at home for as long as i could as it was more comfy and relaxing. I continued to pace around breathing through my contractions.

At 10.15pm we woke up Alyssa and packed ourselves into the car, contractions were now just 3 minutes apart but i was still coping really well. DP decided to stop at every
amber light which frustrated me a little but eventually we got to my sisters where we dropped alyssa off to my mum and collected my sister who was going to be my 'other support person'.
By this time it was 10.30pm and i was starting to feel nauseas so i asked my mum for a bucket JIC.

The ride from my sisters to the hospital was rather quick, DP clearly didnt want me delivering our baby in the car...lol.
We arrived at the hospital just before 11pm and waited for DP to come in from parking the car. The nurse walked us up to maternity where i was taken to an observation room for a check.
I told the midwife Annie that i didnt want an internal as i couldnt possibly lay down, she said that was ok and sent me to the loo for a urine sample.
She listened to bubs hb and reported back it was good, had a feel around and told us bubs head was down quite far but she was def posterior however she was also confident bubs would turn
around before it came time to push.

11.30pm She took us into a delivery room where i tried leaning over the bed, contractions were now just 2 minutes apart and standing was proving harder than i had anticipated. She began to run a bath
while we waited for a doc to come up and take some blood and insert the needle for an IV should i need it later on as i had lost alot of blood after alyssa was born and they didnt want to take any chances.

The doc finally came in about 11.40pm, his name was Boris and for some reason he asked me how i was, which i found very frustrating, clearly i was in pain, der.
They got me to sit and he took blood and inserted the IV needle thingo in my arm. Up until this point (not including the car) i had been standing and walking to give gravity the chance to do its thing
but after siting down i found it was much more comfy than standing so i sat on the edge of the chair until finally i could get into the bath.

It was around 11.50pm when i hopped in, at first the water was really warm but it wasnt helping with the pain, i then moved around and found a good spot, i stayed in that spot until 12.30am breathing quickly
between contractions as i found it hurt more to take deep breaths. By this time i was feeling very nauseas and had thrown up 3 times already and the pains were getting unbearable so i decided to get out.

Back in the delivery room i got up onto the bed and leaned over the bed head, i was almost in tears and had to yell to let out my frustrations, up until this point i had been very calm and very quiet.
It was 12.50am As i let out a little yell in pain and as i did my waters broke, midwife said this was a good sign and started to get things ready for delivery. I turned over and laid on my back and by
1am i was pushing. Her head came out and she let out a little cry before moving her head around to have a look, everyone laughed as she wasn't even born yet and she was already so alert.
One more big push at 1.14am and her shoulders came out along with the rest of her, she was immediately put on my chest. She had big blue eyes and perfect soft skin, i couldnt have been happier.

Approx 10 minutes later i delivered the placenta, because i hadn't had any drugs i was very alert and awake, i hadn't seen a placenta before so i was very suprised at how big it was.

All in all it was a great experience and im glad i didnt have any drugs. I didn't require any stitches, just a lil graze which isn't at all bothering me.

Charli Isabelle Maddison Timms was born at 1.14am on 11th November 2008
Weight- 3980g
HC- 34cm
Length- 53cm

Delivered by Annie Phillips, the same midwife who delivered our other daughter Alyssa. Both Alyssa and Charli weighed the exact same down to the gram. Annie says in her 15yrs as a midwife she has
never come across siblings thats weighed the exact same

After lots of cuddles she attached to the breast perfectly. We left the hospital at 12pm that day, both of us are doing extremely well and are glad to be home. Charli is feeding extremely well and
is very healthy, Alyssa is very excited to have a little sister and couldnt be happier.
