It is rather late as my DD is now 6 but i have only joined BB recently and felt it'd be nice to put the story out there.
i had been diagnosed with ventricular tachycardia at 36 weeks and was on a medication to slow my heart rate down. the day i was due i went and saw my doctor at the hospital (was pre booked incase i didn't deliver on time due to my heart) and organised to be induced the following morning at 6am. getting home i felt somewhat scared and unsure about the whole thing. in the end i decided to get as much rest as i could and try to relax so i went to bed round 7pm.
i had trouble getting much sleep and at 1am i felt as though i was busting to go to the toilet. got up to go and was there for about an hour before i realised that i must be in labour and had noticed there was a little blood on the toilet paper. i started to panic a bit and called the hospital gave the details of what i was experiencing an they said to come in. i went into the room to wake my partner to get me to the hospital. 2.30am i told my partner i was in labour and that we had to get to the hospital now as i shook him quite hard, he lazily looked at me and asked, with a grunt are you sure your in labour and not over reacting? screamed at him am i sure?? there is blood and VERY painful contractions of course im sure!!! (this part i find amusing now but as u can imagine at the time it made me quite angry).
after being wheeled into the birthing suite dressed in a gown and settled onto a bed i had the baby monitor put on as well as a heart monitor for myself. i was around 7 centimers dialated by that point, and didn't take long to reach the full 10cm. at crowning DD had become distressed and had moved her bowls in the womb, i didn't know what was happening but my partner explained to me what he saw. the doctor/midwife can't remember which had grabbed a pair of surgical scissors and were heading to the nether regions and as they cut i screamed, partner says it was blood curdling an only after i had finished screaming did he realise what had happend.
DD came out swiftly after that an was cleaned an vaccumed immediatly she was born at 3.45am. not until after i had fed her for the first time was i finally stitched back up and allowed a shower. DD was then taken away to the intesive care nursery for 24 hours to keep an eye on her heart rate which was slower than should be, effects of my heart medication. after the 24 hours she was back with me for another day before we were able to go home.
the most facinating thing i found about this experience was the whole time my heart rate monitor never got higher than 80 BPM which shocked the nurses.
