    what a beautiful story!!!!

It saddens me though as I wont be able to have a waterbirth, nor will I even be allowed to labour in water

Mabello, I'm sorry to hear that a waterbirth is out of your reach. Why is that? A friend of mine just had a baby girl and she actually spent a part of her early labour at the local indoor pool. This might be something to consider. Or in the shower? The warm water on your body might help...

Yes I will definitely be in the shower. Hopefully on a fit ball.

The hospital I am attending don't have baths at all, and certainly don't allow pools

Well, my tip would be: stay at home as long as possible where you can be in your bathtub if you so wish...
I really think more main stream hospitals should have the option to birth in water. It is so effective (not for all), it must be cheaper than epidurals and anaesthetists (although, this might be the exact reason they don't offer this option), it is safe, outcomes have been proven to be great.

Thanks, feeb. I am booked into the birth centre again and have been assigned to the same Midwife, which I am absolutely thrilled about. I think she really enjoyed seeing Maya again at our first visit in December. With my second, I am even more impressed with the birth centre service as the home visits are just really really handy when you have a toddler to look after.
