OMG you are an amazing woman , im currently preg , an yes emotional, but i dont think i have cried so hard in my life, the pain u must have gone tho is totally imaginable,
you must truly appreciate every minute with loved ones, and its the stories like yours , that keep reminding me of that , no matter how hard or horrible it is we must go on,
i wish u so many happy memories with you bubby boy..

i read your story in january and i have just re read it. after giving birth only a few weeks again i just can not ever imagine how brave you were to birth both oliver and harry. i am so sorry that the ob and nursing staff let you down the first time. i am a nurse and its stories like yours that remind me when i am at work i can not afford to "have a bad day". in tellinh your story you are making a difference for others, you are so brave!

Dear Spring.
Thank you so much for your story - like many others, it made me cry and cry. It also made me SO ANGRY my blood was boiling over the way some staff behaved. And cry again at how amazing your DH is.
But also, it has helped me understand the story of my grandmother. I have always known that, in the early 1960s, she discovered her 4th baby had died, and she had to deliver him naturally, knowing that he was dead. I don't think she ever properly recovered - she fostered, then adopted, another boy soon after. That boy (my step-uncle) was from a troubled background, and died of AIDS in the 80s. She has always been an emotionally cold woman, and I had never really considered that she simply may never have recovered from the loss of her little son. I am sure no help was offered, no counselling. She also divorced from her husband soon after.

The very sad reality was that back in the 60's women how had stillborn babies weren't afforded the same opportunity to grieve as we are now encouraged to do. I spoke with a woman in the same age group as you grandmother who lost her daughter. The hospital staff didn't even let her see her daughter and she was wisked away. Her Husband still hasn't even spoken her daughters name.
I don't know how these ladies survived. I immersed myself in my grief and I think it was the most healthy thing to do.
If you think appropriate, reach out to your Grandmother. Ask her about your Uncle, she may be so relieved that finally someone wants to know his story or she may not want to talk at all but it's worth a try.

At 4.52am this morning, 3 years to the day, Daddy and I cuddled in bed and sobbed for you. 3 years since you were born sweetie, but we miss you so much and our love grows stronger and stronger every day.
I kept my promise honey, you got to see the sunrise and we will always think of you when we feel the warmth of the morning sun.

I hadn't read your story before Spring Angel - it was beautiful and heart-wrenching.
What a strong woman you are indeed. I think your story has inspired me more than anything else towards an intervention and drug free birth. If you could do it after what you went through - so can I. Life can be painful, but I'd rather feel it, remember the journey, and draw strength from the experience.

Today was my due date (quite aware it was more than likely going to go unheeded by this critter) and it's been a timely read - I haven't taken anything for granted in this pregnancy, and is part of the reason I've not really talked about the pregnancy IRL or on FB etc. I've probably had lots of reasons to take it for granted but being a member of BB has taught me better.
It's a sacred time, huh? No matter the outcome, it's sacred and internal. This is becoming clearer to me the closer my time gets.

I just read this again (It was one of the first birth stories I read on BB!) and can now see so much of my own story in it... The sweet smell... Unhelpful obs (though I was lucky in that I didn't have to wait - the midwives didn't realise Ianto was about to make an entrance)
It gives me so much hope for myself that you went on to have #2 (and 3) - there have been times in the past month that I think there's no way my body could carry and birth a live baby... But there is hope! Thank you so much for sharing, even though I'm really late to comment. Thank you for giving someone like me hope.
