    Hoobley,
OMG that to me is abuse in the true sense of the word. Your poor wonderful gran. I have no idea how on earth she went through that. There are so many horrid stories from days gone by. And i don't know if i see less of it now because i am looking in different places or because it happens less. I really hope that when i fall pregnant, we are able to have a home birth. I thought it was a classic at the end that the only friend with a peaceful experience was one that was over looked by a vet. A person used to dealing with animals going through a natural process. Allowing themother to follow her instincts. Thank you so much for sharing that. A very strong woman, but so unfair for her to have to experience that and to miss the bliss so many other women feel.

Oh wow! I had goosebumps and tears in my eyes thinking about what your Gran endured. My how times have changed. I wish I had asked my Grandmother about her births, too late to do so now what stories they would have been, an 11lb 10oz footling breech for one.

That was so horrible. Imagine being tied to the bed and then "forgotten" and not even being told what your baby was or if it was alive. I would have skinned the drs and nurses alive. Tell your nan that she is a strong woman to have endured all that abuse and give her a huge cuddle from us all

I will have to ask my nan and mum their experiences now - just to compare.

    oh man.. thats heart breaking..
That treatment, particularly of your Nan in hospital (and your Dad) was so totally inhumane..God bless them both!
I cant believe that sort of stuff used to happen!

Thank you for sharing. I'm sure it was very hard for your Grandmother to tell her stories, people from that era don't often talk about these things. Thanks again *hugs*

Great to know things have improved since then, isn't it?

And I love how, three and a half years after this was posted, the thread's been revived for all of us who weren't around BB in 2007...

Oh my goodness! That's terrible. I thought I had a traumatic birth, and for modern times I did...but that just sounds terrible!
Would like to ask my Nanna about her births (8 of them, including 2 sets of twins, one of whom came out bum first)
