Thumbs up The perfect entrance to life by I Nyoman Zyon Jaya

Ok so 3rd baby, I wanted it to be a truly pleasant experience & early on had decided I wnated to birth this baby through the Family Birth Centre at The Angliss hospital (I had both girls in the delivery suites at The Angliss without any complaints).
Every Midwife appt I walked away really happy with the lack of intervention, talking early on about negatives etc, it was all positive, positive, positive & really relaxed & friendly!
I explained I wanted to birth bubs without being told what or where or how, just to be left to labour & birth...
I had asked my Aunt to come too, as she has terrible birthing memories & I hoped to give her a great experience to be less negative about birth!
The midwives were fine with this, also my hubby & mum were coming.
As both girls were born at exactly 41wks I guessed this baby would be late too, still didnt make me happy about my due date coming & going by without any action! We found out at my 20wk scan that this baby was a boy & so we had his name picked very early on!
So Wednesday morning 25th July, I awake with slight cramping, that I knew was the beginning, so I sent Maddy off to School, got Indah ready for the day & we put on the PINK DVD as it is her favourite & we danced (for me once it starts I do not want it to stop!)
Around 11am I went with Mum & Indah to the shops, contractions were very bearable & about 5-7mins apart! I needed to walk the contractions in so they'd not go or stop!
At 3:10 I had a parent teacher appt with Maddy's teacher, he was a tad nervous at my rocking & wincing so made it quick!
The contractions were still about 5 mins apart & easy to breathe through, I had a soak in the bath & just relaxed... I let my sister know it was happening as she was gonna have the girls overnight for us.
At about 7pm she came to get the girls & we called my aunt & headed to her place to get her, I had also called the FBC & spoke to a midwife about the contractions now being ouchy & about 3-4 mins aprt..
We arrived at the Birth Centre around 7:45pm, a student midwife whom I had met on a few of my appt's had asked if I'd mind if she attend & ofcourse I didnt mind, she was there & took my BP, a urine sample & basically left us alone..
I was telling jokes & breathing through contrcations nicely, around 9pm, a midwife whom I''d met at a few appts & the student returned to ask if I had eaten as I had no energy in my urine sample, it was then I realised I wasnt hungry & had missed dinner! So they rought me some biscuits & apple juice (over the evening I think I drank about 6litres of juice!)
As the trainee was listening to the heratbeat with the doppler my waters broke all over her & I was so apologetic, she laughed & said it was fine & part of her job, at this point the contractions were really strong & so I asked to hop in the bath, which they had already started running for me, it was noted that again this bubs had become distressed as there was meconium in my waters but it was deemed to be old & not recent, so I soaked in the bath probably for a good hour & a half!
I started to feel the urge to push & didnt feel comfortbale in the bath anymore so I hopped out & kneeled on the floor rocking my hips over a beanbag, the whole time the lights were very dim & I was not told to do anything, I was encouraged endlessly & spoken to with gentle voices & kind words...
I was never touched or checked by the midwives other than listening to the heart with the doppler!
I got uncomfy again & hopped up on the bed but still slung over a beanbag it was about 11:30pm (I am guessing the time to be honest!) I had always imagined birthing in a squat or upright position, but NOT ON MY BACK, like the last 2 times, but as I soon realised pushing when up on my knees, hanging over a beanbag was not working for me, I was pushing so intensely into my butt, that my muscles in my bum were tensing up & I wasnt getting anywhere, the midwife asked me if I wanted to feel myself where the baby was, as it would help me to get through transition which I was now experiencing, but I didnt have the strength or energy to somehow feel for a baby, so I asked her to check, so peacefully & quietly by torch light she did an internal & informed me she couldnt yet feel the head but it was close!
At this stage they were also having trouble finding a heartbeat with the doppler as bubs was well into my pelvis..
The Midwife could see I was tensing up with all the pressure in my bum, in my current position & asked if I was totally comfortable , which i agreed I wasnt & it was not helping with the pushing, so I rolled onto my back & I felt so much better!
I pulled both legs up & pushed & I soon heard my aunt announce with a choked up voice... "Tracey I can see his little face!"
I knew now that I did have it in me & I was encouraged by the student midwife to allow my body to do what it needs & to just go with it...
I heard them say the cord was clear of his neck & I knew with the next push his head would be out, I could feel it so intensely & longed for the next contraction so I could push him out entirely, soon enough that overwhelming urge to push waved over me & I felt the exhilerating slither of his body slide out & he was placed directly up on my chest where he nuzzled & licked at my nipple, the midwives both then stood back & let DH, Mum^& my Aunt in to Congratulate me & meet the little man. MInd you it was about 10mins after he was born that Mum said "OOh is he really a boy!?" Sure enough a gorgeous little willy was there!
About 35mins after he was placed up on my chest I could feel the urge to push again & once again by the calm torch light the midwife moved in & said she could see the placenta was about to come out, I gave 2 pushes & out it slithered.
Another 10 mins later & the cord was clamped & Dh then cut it. The midwives then left for a good 15mins so we were all left alone!
Zyon was feeding, Mum & my Aunt were about to leave, so I buzzed & asked the midwife if she could do all his checks so Mum could let everyone know his stas, like weight, etc!!
I then showered & he slept like a baby.. I spent the night laying next to DH & we stared at Zyon alnight in awe of him..

It was by far the best birthing experience, Zyon is our last baby & I am glad I got to experioence the Birthing Centre as it was truly a beautiful, peaceful, calm experience & 1 I will cherish forever....

What a lovely birth that unfolded by its own rhythm. I'm so glad they didn't panic when there was old meconium and when the hb was hard to hear when he was deep in your pelvis. Great care at the birth centre! Fantastic job by you - and what a wonderful experience for your aunt to witness. Congratulations, blessings for your babymoon.
