    Talking Rylansmum's birth story

As i watched my due date come and go i felt really crestfallen i had gone 1 week early with DS so i was expecting and hoping for much the same!!

I had been getting BH cramps etc for approx 3 weeks before missy arrived so i was at the point where i stopped paying attention to them!!

I was sitting at home watching Ugly Betty and i had noticed i was getting a few little crampy feelings that would come and go nothing major so just kept watching all my favourite shows..(sundays are my fav!!)

I went to bed after Rove had finished so it was around 11pm and i was still getting the BH and cramps but as soon as i laid down holy moley they really kicked in so after tossing and turning for 45mins i heard a really weird pop which felt like i had pinched a nerve or something and i thought oh crap i think my waters broke but i got up to go to the loo and tell DP what was happening expecting a rush of fluids but nope nothing so i ignored it.

I timed the tightenings and they were about 1 minute long and 3 minutes apart but i was getting maybe 3 or 4 right ontop of each other than 3 or 4 mins later id get 1 so again i thought oh somethings happening but its waay off..so i went out and told DP what was going on and he freaked out saying oh my god we have to go to the hospital im having a shower ring the midwife and see what they say.

By this time it is around 1.30am and the midwife told me "i better come in sooner than later", so here i am still in my pjs, ringing my brother so they can watch DS..meanwhile DP is running around with my bags packing the car while i told him to relax as it was going to be hours!!

We left dropped DS off and headed for the hospital by this time it was 2.10am and the contractions were getting pretty intense and close together..it only took 10 mins to get to the hospital where they told us we had to wait for a room to be cleaned so it would be around 10 mins by this time my contractions were 1 min 30 secs apart so DP went and said she really needs to go into a room and they told him we had to wait for the floor to dry and i actually said @##@ the floor i gotta lay down

So we got into the room around 2.45am and the midwife wanted a urine sample which she had to wait for my contraction to stop i managed to waddle back out lean over the bed having another contraction while she took my blood pressure..by this time i had to lay down so i did and she said if i need to push go ahead...as i had never felt contractions or the urge to push i kinda freaked out saying i dont know if i do or not i havnt done this before!!

So i managed to push once and the midwife said ok ill just check how far dilated you are and she put her hand down and said "oh crap ok the heads right there push when you are ready" which i did and after 3 or 4 pushes Ashlyn Frances made her way into the world!!!
I started to push at 2.55am and she was born at 3.01am

    Officially
    Stage 1: 3 hours 25 mins
    Stage 2: 6 mins

I cannot believe that it all happened so quick if it wasnt for DP i wouldve just wandered around for a while longer and i dont believe we wouldve made it to the hospital cause when i look back we were only at the hospitla for approx 1/2 our before she was born!!!
