Ryley David long and traumatic birth story

This is my birth story of Ryley who arrived on his EDD! A bit traumatic and a bit graphic so be warned:

At about 8:30am I woke up with a bit of blood and then realise it was my bloody show and kept on bleeding at 9:30am my waters broke and I didn't know. Lol. So I rang the midwife and she told me to come in..At about 11am I started having contractions and man did they hurt I tried the exercise ball and the gas and it worked wonders..I was in the 1st stage of labor for 12 hours and 20 minutes. Later on the midwife check my cervix and I was 4cm dilated about 4:30pm.

I was in second stage of labor and the contractions kept getting stronger and stronger so they gave me a pethidine shot and it didn't nothing for me and I was pushing and pushing but every time I stop his head would go back in because I was in the 2nd stage for 3 hours and was 8cm dilated I was screaming because I was in so much pain and screaming like you never believe like bl00dy murder even the gas wasn't helping. I tried every position like on the bed hands and knees and the floor and the exercise ball I remember they gave me a IV at one stage too.

So due to exhaustion and the 2nd stage being so long they ended up at 1:02am getting me on the stirrups and getting the vacuum extraction out to get bubs out and they gave me a episiotomy because of my small size and at 1:06am Ryley was born and he has the hiccups when they gave him to me. But in perfect health I ended up with 8 stitches..They told I had lost a lot of blood like 1000mls and they end up using 7 towels because I lost so much. (It gave me some nightmares) When I was up to have a shower I fainted because of the lost of blood (silly midwife left me) and couldn't remember where I was or anything and poor mum was there when I fainted..So all up I was in labor for 15 hours and 40 minutes.

So all up I stayed in the hospital for 4 days as I ended up with a blood transfusion 2 litres worth and I was back to my normal self again..

Ryley and I are going well and I am healing nicely..

I hear you on the long difficult birth and that drugs had no effect. I was also suctioned and then when that did'nt work forcep, with my oldest DD. Glad that it all worked out in the end and you have a healthy little man, very cute about the hiccups.

Congratulations on the birth of Ryley. (lovely name!). What a tough birthing journey for you, but you did it! Well done You got him out safely. That's cute he had hiccups. My bub has lots of daily hiccup sessions so it makes me wonder if my bub will come out with hiccups too! hehe

Thanks for sharing your birth story. Giving birth is not always the nice experience we hear of is it? I hope your stitches are healing well, they can take a while.
