why did they have to put a cannula in during the pushing stage?

well when my partner asked that same question they told him it was incase they had to get fliuds or medication into me fast incase my heart failed or somthing.

what a nice quick birth for you.
cannulas can be tricky on a non squirmy person.. some one in labour can be even more tricky.

Wow, what a quick delivery. I had a cannula nightmare too and I still get pins and needles feeling when I touch the area they tried to put it in...13 months later.

yeah i have a scar and it itches sometimes as well as feeling like there is a small lump.

Did they need to use it?

I don't know much about your heart condition, but you can refuse permission to have a cannula put in 'just in case it is needed'.

no they never ended up using it at all after DS was out they removed the cannula and i went for my shower. i wish i had known that then i would have told the nurses not to T.T

Well if your heart's all fixed now you shouldn't need it next time, right? Hope not anyway

i certainly hope i don't either. although my heart may be fixed this time my back will likely cause a problem. i was diagnosed with a petruding disc in my lower spine s1 l5 i think. an mri showed that the disc has inflamed to almost 3 tyimes normal size and is restricting my movement and causing alot of pain. an operation is booked for december in the second trimester when it is safest for me and baby. unless my back stays as it is or gets a little better due to the hormones the operation will go ahead. im hoping it can wait til after bub is born but it's a very big worry T.T
