Serenitys early entrance to the world

I'm on my phone so this might not make sense lol

Tuesday night I was 32 weeks exactly, lying on the couch minding my own business when I feel a sudden wet patch in my underwear....I instantly new my waters had broken so called my step mum to let her know i was dropping off the kids then called my mum to meet us at the hospital and called the hospital do they knew we were coming....by this stage I needed a towel and even that wasn't really helping.

When I arrived with dh at the hosp I was put on the monitor and had a quick scan and bub was still breech bum presenting so they said I could try for a vaginal delivery since I really hated the thought of a csec(hated/terrified)

after an hour or two of monitoring I was only getting tightenings so was given meds to stop contractions a drip for antibiotics and a steroid shot to develop her lungs then off to the labour ward for monitoring for the night.....had a few more tightenings but nothing major followed by more stopping labour meds

Wednesday morning after waking up I had a scan which showed there were only a couple of tiny pockets of water and she was still flexed breach and estimated her weight at 1.78 kg....got taken up to the ward where I got obs done ever 4 hours and my second shot of steroids later that night

Thursday night at about 8 I started getting ok contractions every 4 min not painful just uncomfortable so sent back to the labour ward and hooked up to the monitors....had an internal which said I was still closed and a scan which showed my cervix was still long...they said it was pre labour so gave me more stop labour meds and a shot of morphine so I could sleep...

By this point both shots of steroids have had time to take effect for her lungs

At about 1am friday morning suddenly wake up in pain about 6/10 lasting a min then again in a min so called the midwife who decided to do an internal.....so after 5/10 min of these contractions she checks me and I'm 5cm dialated but she thinks she can feel a foot presenting so she gets the dr and the scan machine and 5 min later the dr checks and says I'm 7 cm dialated now and she can feel a knee so the anesthesiast (sp) is called to give me an epidural and I'm sent of for an emergency csec.....

Serenity was born 2/10/2009 weighing 1.545kg head circumfrance 29 cm and 42 cm tall
she took a couple min to cry and they had to sunction her mouth and give her some air first she was taken to nursery where she was on cpap til 11am and later that day started 5ml milk every 3hrs as she was trying to suck everything including her incubator sheet

today her feeds were increased to 10ml every 3hrs and will be increased by 5ml every 6 hrs.....she had to go under the lights but is looking alot better...

She fully wakes for feeds and sucks the dummy really well so I will be able to put her on the boob tomorrow to see what she does....she's doing well with her temp her incubator is set at 32.5 and she already cries when she's hungry

she may be small but she's doing great....

By the end of day 1 I had my cathider removed and was walking to the loo by this morning(day 2) I had my epidural removed as I hadn't used it all night and now my drip is removed and I have able to walk down to the nursery several times

hopefully we both keep doing great each day

the thought of having a csec scared the rubbish out of me not to mention I really didn't want the scar...but I am so glad my tiny princess is ok, I'm still in shock and have trouble beleiving it but she was only born yesterday so it should sink in soon

Hope this made sense and I will keep everyone posted on her progress

Wow what a ride - you certainly don't do things by halves And whats most scary is that we were due in the same month (eek!!)

I'm so glad your little girl is doing so well - may she continue to gain strength day by day.

Rest up easy after your c-section.

Thankyou for sharing you story, I am glad that she came out safe and sound, and is doing really well in the SCN, I hope her journey is just a fattening farm and perhaps a little sunbaking if required so you can bring her home very soon.

Serenity counds like she is doing beautifully

Take care and rest up when you can, it is amazing how tiring it can be going back and forth to the nursery and you need to rest as well, try and put your feet up as much a possible in the nursery and in your room, then at home xxoo
