    Speedy Arrival

    Sooooo were to begin.

DD1 came along at 30 weeks so with this pregnancy we had been sitting and waiting for bub to come along since around 29 weeks.

On Sunday (1/7) we hit 34 weeks and were getting anxious on the arrival. I said to a girl I work with 'you wait I'll have the baby this week'.

Monday morning I went to the loo and had a tinge of blood in some mucous so I ring DH to come home and take me to the hospital. When DH got my call he had just said to his apprentice 'she's going to go this week'. We get to the hospital and I'm put on the ctg. I was having some contractions about 10-12 min apart. Midwife rings my doctor knowing my history and we begin the process of halting labour. I get my first shot of steroids to promote babies lungs and tablets to halt the process. 3 hours later dr arrives for an examination. He runs a fibro centises test (or something like that) which comes back highly negative for labour with 24 hours and unlikely for 7-14 days. My cervix is high and closed. I get sent home on some rest with follow up at my Friday appointment and to come back the next day for 2nd steroid shot.

Tuesday morning (3/7) DH goes to work. I stay lieing in bed waiting for dd (who had become sick with a cold) to wake up. At 730 I felt a 'pop' and a gush and I think I didn't need to go to the loo. I quickly look and think there's no blood so couldn't be anything to much but could still feel some fluid. I hop up and put the tv on for dd and go for a shower. Bout 750 I feel a strong pain and I start worrying. I hobble round the house trying to get dressed. I find the hospital number and speak to the midwife who tells me not to rush but come in. I call mum who was dropping my brother off and she tells me she is almost there so I'll speak to her when she gets here. She came bout 805 and I yell out to her to come in bathroom and I tell her what's happened. She rushes getting dd clothes and nappy bag for me and my brother grabs my hospital bag from my car and we get into mums car and head to the hospital. On the way I ring DH and tell him to meet me there and that i think my water broke.

Bout 10 mins later DH rings saying he was there. My brother had to speak as I was having contractions now about 4 mins apart. Mum yells to him to get a wheelchair. We turn into the hospital at about 830. DH lifts me from the car into the wheelchair and in wheeled into the corroded leading to delivery. The midwife comes along and I'm contracting (again) saying the baby is coming. Once in the room I drop the pants and think I was lifted onto the bed. Everyone was telling me to breathe not push. Unfortunatly baby had other ideas and I come out with 'I can't f@@@@@@ stop its f@@@@@@ is there'. Mum and dr come into the room at 845 and baby is out at 850. No one believing how quickly it all happened.

Was never in the plan for mum to be at the birth was just the way it happened. I was so happy she was though. Although she was trying to recall everything from the birth of my brother 17 years ago. It was the perfect start to her day as it was my parents 30th wedding anniversary that day. She know tells dad he has no reason to forget the day anymore (which he had)

My brother had taken dd to my grandmothers who lives a 2 minute walk from the hospital. By the time he got there nan was there to say the news.

So all in all we have a beautiful little princess into the family.

Gorgeous story. Shows how much modern medicine still doesn't know about the mystery of pregnancy and birth. And love her name.

I am a complete mystery!!!! The test they do has been 98% accurate. And the majority of times when it's wrong is that it shows people will go into labour and they don't. My dr will probably freak out if I go again. I can cruise along fine the entire time then BAM into labour I go.
