Well here it is almost 3months later, but better late then never.
Its so very long, i have cut many parts out to shorten it for you all.
Thankyou for taking the time out to read it.
We went in on Friday 22nd June at 8pm to be induced. My mum, brother and 2 sisters met us there and MIL rocked up shortly after we arrived.
By 9pm us and another couple were finally shown our rooms.
As we walked into our room the nurse settled us and said the Dr will be in to check me out shortly.
We were all quite chatty and excited, I still only wanted gas but had let, for medical reasons only, the thought of and epidural on the table.
At 10pm the Dr showed up to insert the gels, As she discovered i was already 3 1/2 cms dialated, so i didnt need the gels. I was told to rest up and hope my body was going to do the rest. If not things will be kicked off tomorrow.
I was estatic, YEAH i might not need to be induced at all! Rick and MIL went off to get some food (mmm McDonalds), my mum stayed with me.
At 11.30pm the nurse came in and said they would be able to break my waters tonight. OMG so soon!!
At 12.30am the nurse came back in and said she was sorry but a few ladies had come in that were in labour, so they couldnt do anything tonight, that the Dr would be in about 5am onwards to break my water.
I wasnt impressed, to be told one thing and now another, but atleast it gave my body more time to do things on its own.
MIL said her goodbyes (my family stayed) and said she would be back first thing in the morning, that was at 1am. Rick saw her out. Mins after they left, the nurse came in and said "We are all ready for you, Dr will be in shortly, things will be starting soon"
me "OMG, what about Rick, what about MIL??"
nurse "Dont worry i told them as they walked out, they are just moving MIL's car and will be back"
At 1.30am i had a S&S, damn the Dr, it freakin hurt like hell this time round, realised cos she pulled out the mucas plug aswell.
Shortly after started getting niggly period pains, but i can manage these.
At 3.30am my waters are broken, this didnt hurt at all like i was told it would.
At 3.40am Contractions started, these are really painful, they started way to hard and fast.
by just after 4.30am i was on the gas, geee i love that stuff!! hehehe
dont remember to much during the day after that, i did manage to get some sleep though (somehow)
At 1.00pm started asking for an epi, i couldnt handle the pain.
I was given a pethadine shot while waiting for the Dr.
The Dr had just been called into theatre, i had to wait 45min!!!
My contractions are now less then 30secs apart.
Finally the epi man came in, by now i was in the 'Zone', so i dont know why they gave it to me, i didnt want it (yes even though i was asking for it), but since he came in and was talking to me, breaking me out of my zone, i was in pain and couldnt argue. this stalled the labour, my contractions slowed.
At 3pm they got me to start pushing, as i was fully dialated at 2.30pm (nice of them to check my dialation before the epi!!). I was pushing for 3 hours and Lachlan wasnt budging and inch, although they were telling me i was doing a great job, when they went to get a Dr, I was regretting having an epi, I couldnt feel anything and wanted to get up and walk around so badly, i knew if i could get up and walk things would start up again.
Lachlans heart rate kept dropping dramamtically, kept sending the alarms off, the nurses excuses - the monitors arnt attached properly!! they tried several times and both the internal (the one that attaches to their head) and the stomach one.
I dont think they realised, he was in DISTRESS!!
At 6pm the Dr came in, did an internal and then went and got the machine, telling us he had turned. The scan showed he was now face up and i wouldnt be having him naturally if they didnt do something soon.
3 options were given to us:
1 Wait and hopefully he turns back around, but he would have to do it real soon.
2 Use forceps to turn him and get him out, if not i would have to have a c/s
and 3rd option was for a straight c/s
I looked from Dr to Rick back to Dr saying i dont know what to do.
I knew waiting wasnt an option, his heart rate drop scared me and i knew he couldnt wait, i didnt want intervention especially a c/s.
Dr said he would give us 1/2hr to think about it.
As the Dr was walking out MIL approached him and said she doesnt have 1/2hr look at her (i kept vaguing out, eyes rolling into back of my head), she has been fully dialated since 2.30pm and the baby's heart rate keeps dropping enough to send off alarms. The Dr replied the nurses said she had been fully dialated since 4.30pm, he went and checked out the paperwork to find out MIL was right.
He cam straight back in and said you have 5min to work out what you want.
After asking another Dr's opinion, we went for the forcepts.
I was given a epi block and prept for theatre.
By 6.25pm i was in theatre about to give birth to my son. Rick was prept aswell wearing his lovelly read hairnet and blue dr's outfit lol
As things were about to star i hear "he's turned, he's turned" everybody was excited and were cheering. I was thinking i might be able to have him naturally without forcepts, followed by the Dr saying now i will be able to use the smaller forcepts!! WTF never mind i wanted my son out now.
As i didnt want to watch, and for the purpose of an emergancy c/s a screen was put up, Rick was on a chair next to my head.
After 3 absolutely HUGE pushes (and several smaller ones), help from the Dr and the focepts, we heard the cries we had been longing to hear, my son was born, i was asked if i wanted to see him, like der of course i did, they pulled down the sheet and handed me my son, that was it i lost it crying my eyes out, i only managed to get my hand to his head. Rick cried, kissed me several times and then was asked to cut the cord.
Rick went with him (in the corner of the room) while i got stitched up.
My son was born at 6.42pm Saturday 23rd June, 17 days after his original due date, weighing 8lb 90z.
After waiting in the recovery room with Lachlan in my arms, we were finally taken to our room at around 10pmish, were mum, brother, 2 sisters and MIL were able to meet their Grandson and Nephew for the first time.
I suffered 3rd degree tears from and episiotomy, i was exhausted and wasnt even close to having the labour i wanted, but who could complain, my son was finally here in my arms, sorrounded by people who love him, we were thrilled to announce FINALLY the arrival of LACHLAN SYDNEY.
I was not impressed by the nurses actions in the labour ward, even though they were all very nice, i wasnt impressed by being lied to about the episiotomy.
Although it has now made me be prepared for next time, Doula by my side all the way!!!
My after care was exceptional, i couldnt of been more happier with the way we were treated and cared for.
My son was born with a headache and bruises from the forcepts, heaps of scratches on his head from the monitoring but he took to the boob really well and has loved his sleep from the moment he was born (although i could argue that now hehe), we were proud of our son and continue to be proud parents of our little miracle to this day and forever more.
Even after everything i have been through, we were planning no 2 only days after Lachlan was born!!
Thankyou for reading this, give yourself a medal if you go this far.
I feel better for getting it out, it took so long b/c i couldnt remember alot, it has slowly come back to me along with some help from Rick MIL and mum, it is very long isnt it, glad i didnt put in everything!!! hehe

I'm sorry everything didn't go the way you planned, but I still found the story of Lachlan's birth beautiful AND you made me tear up as well!
