Talking Vomitting, fainting, chicken burgers..... (Its Long Sorry))

Okay, so its taken me a while to get back in the swing of things and back to Belly Belly, but after taking Maternity leave at 22 weeks (after breaking both my arms) my beautiful baby boy is finally here and so is his birth story
    .................................................. .................................................. ....
It;s the 20th of December and I am booked in for an induction, its 5.00pm and my beautiful partner is driving us to the hosptial, I feel sick to my stomach, scared, nervous, excited and litteraly crapping my pants. We are sitting at the set of lights (500 meters from the hosptial) I turn to my partner and say "Babe, I have to tell you something.... For the last 2 weeks I have had a bad feeling that you are going to go home without me, and have to raise our son on your own" I am petrified that I am going to die giving birth (stupid I know but hey this is what was going through my mind and I just had to get it out).
My partner re-assures me everything is going to be fine and we will come home a family and will always be together. That was the end of the conversation, she calmed my nerves and I was ok.........
Ok so come 7pm the doctor comes in and puts a drip in my hand and inserts the gell, he says the contractions should start in the next 5 hours, but if it doesn't progress by the next morning he will insert another lot of gells. We decide its best if my partner goes home so I can get some rest. I promise to ring if anything happens (home is only around the corner) She leaves around 10pm
come 11pm I am certainly feeling the contractions, I don't want to be a woos so I dont say anything to the nurse. I am uninterupted all night. I am in the room all by myself pretending to be asleep not feeling a thing but let me tell you I am feeling everything.
I think they wre probably coming every 20 minutes and lasting for around 50 seconds to a minute.

5.30am My sexy wifey arrives to see how we are going....
7am The doc comes around and says well done you are 2cm dialated- WOW holy crap how the hell am I going to be when I am 10cms dialated!!!!!
So the doc inserts a gell and says he will pop in at lunchtime and if I have not dialated enough by then, then he will put me on the drip and pop my waters ......
sitting, waiting, an ouchie here and there
12pm doc comes in again and I am still at 2cms
I then get moved to the birthing suite.
Doc puts the drip in, all ok.
doc then puts his fingers, hand, arm and I am sure the elbow and shoulder as well in my wooohoooo and I scream in agony, I say no no no stop, I dont want to do this anymore, I want him to come when he is ready.
Dac then asks if I can handle 2 more seconds and he is sooo sorry for hurting me. I say yep make it quick..............
BANG!!!! he popped them, it was the most disgusting feeling in the whole world I couldn't help it " all of a sudden a power chuck (yep I spewed) all over my doctor I was mortified, I couldn't have been more embarrassed. Doc said don't stress its a first for him but in a few years we will all laugh about it.

It only gets better from here girls

Ok so after my water popped things get a lil interesting, I was pacing in my room, having hot showers, having my back rubbed by my partner, trying to hold my tongue with back to back contractions every 7 minutes lasting 2 minutes each one with a 30 second break in between.

    3pm I have dialated 4 cm

At one point I was starving hungary so I sent my wifey to get my a chicken burger, in which I might add was the best chicken burger I have ever eaten.
It took me about 2 hours to eat in between the gas and contractions but I ate it in the end.

4pm I have dialated 6cm- the fantastic midwife is saying I am doing really really well.

5pm the midwife looks a bit concerned I have gone backwards to 5cm dialated.
They put the monitors on bubs. She says everything will be ok, just want to see how he is going in there.

6pm Midwife checks and I am back to 4cms dialated....... she rings the doc who says monitor for the next hour and see how we go. The midwife then recommends I have an epidural as I am getting tired now and can barely walk. I go for it, I have had enough.

The guy comes in to do the epidural, My partner is asked to hold me still as they need to insert the epidural into my L4/L5 (due to a back injury)
My aprtner is holding my so strong, then all of a sudden she says I have to sit down, I am like oh my god don't you dare let me go.... the midwife then quickly races around to where my partner is standing and quickly grabs her as she is falling to the floor.
    She fainted
They then lay her on the floor and put her legs up and she comes too. my poor girl. we give her a few moments, the midwife and doc finish my epidural and I am in heaven

Why the hell didn't I do this to begin with. OMG party in birth suite 1

I am not in any major pain anymore but come 8pm I am back to 4cm dialated, we (me and my partner) really dont know whats going on but the midwife rings the doctor, who arrives within 20 minutes.

Doc does an internal, he then turns to us and says I know how much you want to avoid a ceserian but unfortunaley you are going backwards, with every contractions, bubs's heartbeat drops. for the safety of me and bubs, he wants to do an emergency ceserian.
My partner and I just look at each other. I ask the doc when, he says i am booking a theatre.
I am friggen ****ting myself, we both are. We know that this is absolutely neccessary as our doc is 100% for natural births and we trust him 100%
My partner rings her parents and then rings my parents and they are straight down, waiting in the waiting room.

Ok so we are in the theatre, its all so surreal........ I feel pressure on my tummy, and then wwwaaaahhhhhhhhhh

Oh my god my partner and I just looked at each other and then burst out crying, its was just amazing, this sudden burst of emotions as we heard our son for the first time.

Then all of a sudden they brought him over- oh no they didn't clean him , I shout " get him away clean him, clean him!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't handle the sight of the blood and goo I start trying to throw up (yet again)but I can't, then I can feel very hard pressure in my stomach and the doctors behind the screen shouting whats going on, give her something to calm her down.............................................. ..........................................

Thats the last thing I remember...............................

Apparentley, the doc gave my something that was too Strong (they would never admit it). Candice said his face dropped, the machines all started beeping, my eyes rolled back.
After what I said to my partner on the way to the hospital she totally freaked out.

They tried to give our son to my partner to calm her down "she was yelling at them saying get him away, what have you done, what have you done...... You've killed her"

Then the doc put something in my drip that made the machines stop beeping and my heartbeat came back to normal.................

I woke up in recovery and was introduced to my beautiful big blue eyed Son Mackenzie.
    Born 21st December at 9.24pm- 7 pound 11, 51cm long

It was the best moment of my life..............

We still don't know what happened to me but at the end of the day we don't really care.
We are both here safe & sound, and are just so happy and blessed with our baby boy.

    Thanks for reading
    Hope you weren't too bored

WOW i have never read such a interesting (for a better word, lol) birth story ... and was i bored NOT in your life !!

... i can't get over the convo you had with DP at the traffic lights and then what happened to you later with her heartbeat, ... bet your DP is gonna be sitting up & listening to you extra careful from then on

What an ordeal for your DP to go through too, OMG reckon i would faint too so much to take onboard. Glad the epi worked wonders for you, you poor thing must have been so darn buggered by the time you got it

and i have to admit i had a huge chuckle when you mentioned the OB's entire arm feeling like it was up there, who the hell doesn't freak when that happens

i have to say your birth story sounds like something out of a movie ... clearly Mackenzie wasn't going to make his grand entrance happening in a boring fashion ... yep sounds like a lil' man that likes a bit of attention, harr harr

Thanks heaps for sharing Mackenzie's magical day ... and i have to also say i have missed you heaps around here on BB, so i'm wrapt you are back

(P.S - i clearly remember vomiting near the end when i was sitting on the hosp loo and had a sudden urge to be sick yelled at DP to hold the rubbish bin for me and all i could think of " Why is the rubbish bin plastic liner black, that's NOT a pretty colour in this ALL white bathroom ", ROFL " ... DD was born 15mins later on the hosp bed, yeh my butt made it off the loo !!)

Thanks so much for sharing your story, amazing as it was!

I am impressed you managed to eat during all that... I was not interested in food at all!

How scary about the post-partum stuff - whatever happened there. Your poor DP - must have been completely freaked!

    Great story. Congrats!

Definitely NOT bored. Wow...what a story.
You broke both your arms at 22wks
I was when I read you puked on your Dr. What a crack up.

Big for your partner as well. That must have been so scary for her when all your machines started going off. Especially after what you said to her in the car.

Congrats on the birth of your DS
