I've pretty much decided that I am going to do BLS...but when I talk to the girls in my mothers' group, I start to doubt my decision. They don't try to get me to change my mind, but it's a larger group and every single one of them has started solids for at least 2 weeks (some were even started at 4 months)...and I have a feeling that my MIL thinks I should start too (she's lovely, she would never push me to do anything, but I get this feeling when we talk about my solid plans, she thinks they are a bit strange). I have no plans on starting for at least another month unless DS changes dramatically - right now he has zero interest in food. Just remind me that BLS makes sense (because it does to me) and that forcing mushy food on a little on is not a nice thing to do. Why does everyone seem to think that it's "good" for babies to have solids early?
I can't see how old your bub is but the WHO recommends 6 months. Do what you feel is right for your boy & don't feel you should have to justify yourself.
Stick to your guns buliej, you and only you know what is best and going to work for you baby.
You never know, someone in your MG may just whisper that they wished they had done it too
A couple of months back a BB member posted about BLS and her MG had been pretty vocal about it not being right. Further along a few on 'the quiet' came up and asked her how to do it.
i'm not sure whether it's the novelty factor of solids or excitement over another 'milestone' but people do seem to get excited about solids i know i was excited but we still waited until 6 months & did BLS for the most part.
feel confident in your decision & your gut instinct telling you it's right to wait & to do BLS. there are years of food battles to come, why start early i reckon
it's ok to be different from the crowd - just because you're different doesn't make your decision any less 'right' or valid. fwiw, my council actually recommends BLS & the ones in my MG who fed purees etc were the odd ones out!
Hun, people were telling me that I should be giving solids to DS when he was about 4 months. What the???????? He was just not interested and I would not entertain the idea. When he was 5 months old I started giving him rice cereal & baby yogurt. We would eat dinner in front of him...no reaction. Anyway, he was 8 months when we lived in China for a month and we were in Hungry Jacks (yes, Hungry Jacks) and I was having chips and he started yelling for it and reaching out his hand. So that's when he began to be really interested in solids. I did the BLS when we got home. Then it got too messy for me hahahaha and I gave him some food and other times put a variety of food on his tray and he ate what he liked. GL and do what YOU want to do not what everyone is telling you to do, and go by what your DS wants to do
