Just wondering what will happen if I stop feeding on the left side?
It's just becoming impossible to feed on the left, I partly blame the shield but mostly DS just hates it! I try to get him to empty it every few feeds but really feel like I'm forcing him. And when he does go on he won't attach properly and is only sucking our what dribbles into the shield. He will attach better in football hold but I literally have to force him and it's breaking my heart, it's just not good for our relationship.
The boob seems so stay fairly flaccid during the day but at night it explodes! I go through 2 maz biggins BPs per night just on that side, it even makes it thru the PUL layer.
So my question is if I stop feeding will it dry up? Or will feeding from the right still stimulate the left?
My other option is to feed from the right and express from the left.
I haven't read any other threads about this, I don't know if there's any. But, have you taken him to a chiro or osteo or something? Maybe he is a bit out somewhere from birth and it hurts to lie on that side??
Anyways, I think lots of people successfully feed from one side if that's what you want to do.
Your idea of expressing from the left isn't a bad one on terms of it'll mean you'll have a nice stock of emergency milk for if he needs babysitting etc. But in terms of if the right breast's stimulation affecting the left - it didn't for me. My son wasn't a huge fan of the left side so we've fed exclusively from the right for the last year or so. And now I have no milk on the left. It dwindled slowly over weeks/months - he occasionally gives it a go for fun now but has a few sucks, pulls back and says "Gone!" in a shocked voice then moves onto the right.
