THere are 2 mechanisms in place. If Mum gets sick first, she will be making antibodies and giving them to bub through her milk. If bub gets sick first, some of the bug gets transferred from baby's mouth to the breast and Mum makes antibodies to the bug and passes them back to baby through her milk. Pretty cool, eh?

I've had two colds and horrible night time cough since DS was born, as has everyone else in the household, he's not even got a sniffle. Having a probiotics will help boost your protection.

I had bad gastro and asked about this OP and I was instructed not to stop BFing if your sick, UNLESS its a blood disease or HIV/AIDs.
I was told my bubs would get the antibodies my body was making through the milk to protect him.
