Baby Led Attachment - anyone tried it??

okay, so I'm having a few Bfing dramas, and talking to the lovely ABA cousellor ( I love those girls!), she was telling me about baby Led Attachment. Which I'll have a go at tomorrow, after I've given my left side a chance to heal for a few hours.

But just wondering if anyone else has done it, and if you've got any tips, tricks or stories to pass on?

Is that just feeding bub whenever instead of to a routine?

If yes, then that's what we've always done. If he got antsy, I fed him. Didn't matter if his last feed was only half an hour ago. It really worked for us and they figure out their own pattern soon enough.

Nah, its the way bub attaches at the breast.

check this out Australian Breastfeeding Association - Baby-led attachment

we kinda do it, but are still working it all out so can't really offer any advice yet!

the nuzzling, tasting before attaching is so cute.

    good luck

We tried it in hospital and it was a bit awkward in terms of how to hold him 'his way' but it was good for me to see what his mouth looked like around the areola etc so I could make sure it looked right later when I tried again but holding him 'my way'

Yes, it's fantastic! Amazing to see how babies are so instinctive.......even my teeny weeny 33 weeker knew what to do! We don't do it all the time, but when we're having attachment issues, it's the first thing I go back to, and he almost always attaches without causing me pain when we do it. If that makes sense!

If you're planning on trying it, have a read of the link that Kate posted, that is the info that I used to learn to do it, it's very helpful

Oh, I just remembered that I forgot to go back to your other thread will try to do so quickly now.

Kate - thanks so much for the link - it's brilliant.

And to everyone, thanks for your input & support, once this stupid nipple of mine isn't so messed up, we're definitely going to give this a try.
