So i'm not really sure which section to put this in, it's not totally weaning, it's not totally a problem. More like a vent of my frustration and anger at myself and looking for suggestions on what I can do!
DS is 21months. Still has a feed around 4.30am, one at 9am, one about 2pm and then one at 7pm. All of them except 9am are to go to sleep. He is not ready to wean because he will tantrum non stop if i try put him to sleep without his milky.
The drama is that he is allergic to lots of things. Now most days it's not a problem. After nearly two years and health problems of my own, i'm getting pretty good at cutting things out and it not bothering me. But being pregnant and having all sorts of cravings for food - i get stuck on binges of things I shouldn't have. I do pay for it myself with tummy aches and headaches...but poor DS cops it bad. Not only does he get tummy aches, but when he was little his poo used to just burn his bottom and leave big red marks on it...sometimes they might bleed slightly. But now that he is older it leaves big red marks that turn into blister that also bleed. These look so painful and horrible. I don't know what to do. I feel so terrible atm because the last couple days i've been so bad with what i have eaten and now he is suffering for it. Even his wee makes these blisters now. And the end of his penis looks soooo painful! I shudder to think of what his stomach/intestines/bowel & bladder are like if it's like this just on his skin.
I do go see a naturopath so there isn't really anything else i can do other than cutting out these foods (that we don't really need anyway)....but I just feel so terrible. I don't know if it's worth trying to wean him so that I don't feel so horrible when I cause these blisters and pain...or if i should keep feeding him cuz he's not ready to wean and most of the time i'm pretty good with what I eat. And i just need to exercise more self control while pregnant. Another option is trying to potty train so it's not sitting on his skin. We have bought a potty but he's not really that interested in it. He will only sit on it occasionally...and i duno if forcing him to sit on it will make him avoid it more or actually use it quicker?
Gah i feel so bad today. Luckily it doesn't seem to affect him most of the time, i just know it does when he does a wee. cuz then he is in a bit of pain.
oh poor baby. and that must be so hard for you, that is impressive that you have continued for so long with the food restrictions.
my dd doesn't have food sensitivities but her poos changed when i was pregnant, i wonder if some of your son's reactions might be due to hormonal changes?
