Bottle Choices?

I have purchased a Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Breast Pump which came with a bottle, should i get all the same brand of bottles? Or does it not matter?

& with regards to a steriliser should i stick with the same brand steriliser as bottles?

Any feedback on if my purchase was a good one? Probably should have asked before buying?

GGRRR comp ate my post, hate that!

Bottles are similair to nappy's in the sense that not one size fits all.

DD1 would only take avent bottles, DD2 will only take the cheap happy baby bottles (yay for me!)

i would get a couple more bottles the ft ur breast pump, incase u pump and freeze the one u have and need to use it again.

As for sterilisers, we used the milton tub and solution. Didnt matter what size or shape the bottle was, it all fitted in.
its about $45 from bigw and im pretty sure that u can get it from chemists aswell.

I think the only advantage you'll get from sticking with the one brand is that it all fits and works together.

We use avent bottles and had the avent steriliser and everything fit in nicely... trying to put another brand of bottles into that steriliser would have been a nightmare!

But, there's always the problem that your baby may not like those bottles.

Hmm makes it hard lol.

Maybe i will stick with the one bottle that came with the pump & get one or two different brands then when bubs decides i can buy more in that brand?

I just dont want to get stuck with none JIC

& I dont want to buy a steriliser then have no other bottle but that brand fit into it!

oh forgot to add, u dont NEED to sterilise bottle that have only had BM in it, BM doest harbour the same bacteria that formula does.
and if u want to sterilise them u can just boil them in a pot so u dont need to make a big purchase on an actual steriliser till u actually need to.

I'd get a couple more of the closer to nature bottles to fit the pump, saves you washing constantly if you want to chill or freeze the EBM. Hopefully your bub takes to those bottles without a fuss, those ones where the only brand my little one would take after months and months of refusing a bottle. They seem to be a good choice for a BF baby. Perhaps buy one other bottle of a different brand as a just in case but it really just it trial and error if they start refusing. With us the only thing that worked was leaving it for a few months then trying again.

What about teets? Could i possibly buy a few different teets for the one bottle?

yep u could do that for sure. but one bottle will only take the one szed/shape teat i think.
on the odd occasion ive put a tommee tippee teat (not close to nature) on a happy baby collar because it fits.
i'd just wait till bubs is born u may not even have to worry about bottles for a long time

With DD1 I bought a whole range of different bottles 'just in case', didn't use any of them until she was 8 months old. With DD2, didn't even bother buying any bottles in advance until I weaned her, at 10 months of age.
There are sooooo many different bottles and teats on the market, a bit like dummies really. And you won't know which one bub will take. You might try 12 different bottles until you find the right one.

I have an avent microwave steriliser and between both DD's ive had that many different bottles in it
Like the other girls have said its trial and error and in our case lots of $$
With DD2 i bought her glass bottles...she hates them so now she is loving the closer to nature ones with DD1 I think i bought about 3 different ones before finding she liked Mam bottles
DS loved cheapies so that was good.
I wouldnt be spending too much before bubs comes just get the basics if you want to be prepared

Bottles are definitely like dummy's - not all babies like what you get them

DS and DD1 I used the pigeon ones, Avent leaked all the time and I hated them. I did use their steraliser though and had no problems.

With DD2 I've had to change cos its really hard getting teats down here in Tassie for the pigeon bottles, so now I use the NUK bottles, mainly cos I can get the teats at the local woolies - and I like that convenience.

I use a Tommee Tippee electric steraliser - it is HUGE. All bottles of every size would fit in that sucker.

Well i have one cheapish one & one TT one so i might just leave it there for now and wait til bubs is born! Never know i might get a few different types at my shower!

Is the tommee tippee closer to nature those large bottles?

I found that with my avent bottles i could fit most of the wide neck teats so i didnt have to buy different bottles just teats (The tommee tippee one with the really large teat wont fit any other brands though).

I had pigeon bottles that fit fine in the avent steriliser.

hmm i dont know but all the wide neck bottles and all the standard bottles have interchangable teats so you only need to change the teat and not the bottle if bub is very picky.

FOr example, i have used mam teat, no brand teat, pigeon teats all in my avent wide neck bottle.
