my daughter currently has 120mls every three hours (approx sometimes longer sometimes shorter) Should i be upping her amount and trying to stretch her out to longer in between?
I probably wouldn't try and stretch her any longer, my DD has only just started going about 4 hours in between bottles, but she also has solids in between. I think by 4/5 months you can start upping them to about 180ml though? Does she seem hungry or like she is wanting more to drink?
some feeds she wants a bit more after feeds but i usually burp her and she is then settled, so i dont know if it that she wants more or if it because she has a pain.
During the night she will go approx 5hrs between feeds. and is still happy to have the 120mls.
Its just all confusing.
every baby is different my 1st son only took 120ml every 2 1/2 to 3hrs till he was 11mths he did sleep thru from 9pm till 6am...but during day was like this
son #2 well he is on 180mls hasbeen for about 6 weeks he is 4 mths next tuesday he has 5 feed a day and sleeps 7pm till 5 or 6am
if she is wanting more offer her a small amount whatever min is with your brand but because you offer more wont guarantee longer between feeds or sleeping thru
I would still stick to what you are doing now as our boy only moved to 4 hourly feeds when he started solids.
We demand formula fed our baby on the advice of our nurse and his paediatrician because our boy was constantly hungry and would cry if his belly wasn't full. I understand the theory of overfeeding with formula, but our boy regulated his intake in accordance with his growth spurts, the introduction of solids etc. You will be surprised how varied their intake can be when they are demand fed. Sometimes out little man would guzzle a whole heap and at his next bottle he would only have 100ml.
I am not saying that this approach is perfect as some babies really don't know when to stop and will feed until they throw up, but it certainly worked for us and our little man.
