Breast Pad recommendations please- both cloth & disposables.

Hi,

Just finalising the last few things needed before bubs arrive in the next few weeks & not sure what breast pads to get.

I'm thinking disposables would be more convenient for hospital (planning to stay the maximum days)- but not sure which brand to get. Last time (which was only 19months ago) I got 2 types just from Woolworths, can't remember the brands- but I know one had purple of the box the other brand had red. I found then useless as they would move around even trying to use the little sticky thing. They also were rather rough on the old BB's, especially as we struggled to get attachment right. So which disposables do you's recommend?

At about 6months I finally discovered cloth- they were so much more comfortable (and economical)- so I think once home I'll go back to cloth. I can't remember which brand I got last time, but you get 3 in the pack & they were lacey on the outside & came with a little wash bag. Only problem with these is I found them really noticeable under tops & also seemed to shift- especially at night when I need it most. What are your cloth recommendations?

I used Pidgeon disposables, and found them the best of the lot. Comfy and lasted a while.

Born Of Nature and Maz Breast Pads are the only ones I have tried in terms of cloth, but both were excellent.

ETA: Can't for the life of me remember the name of it at the moment, but you can get this ace top to wear overnights and it absorbs all the leaks so you don;t need breastpads - it is ace! Will try and remember the name and fine te website for you

i have only used disp one so far but pigeon were by far the best ones i used.

I second Maz's breast pads (even though under tighter T-shirts you can see them I don't care! ) they don't seem noticeable under looser tops. You can get funky colours and patterns too!!!!
(I got enough BPs so I didn't have to worry about sending home for washing - I took the option of my full 5 days in hosp. so didn't worry about disposables)

i use Maz BP's - never really wear any tight tight tops so can't say they've been noticable!

umm, i think the top that LS is referring to is a booby bib (search on here - there are threads about it)

I was using the pigeon disposables until I got some Maz-a-licious PUL ones & they are fantasic. I've only got 5 pairs but will be getting more for this time around

Yep I second, third and fourth for Maz breast pads. They are awesome and super absorbant.

Well I used sposies when I had Annabelle and cloth with Lucy. The cloth ones I had were terrible and leaked REALLY badly! The sposies were great BUT they would rub and itch! I was lucky as I would only leak for a couple of weeks both babies.
Id give Maz's a try I here only great things about her products

Maz's are great as well as lilypadz are great because they can't be seen under anything. I've worn them under bathers and they couldn't be seen. They only leaked when I had a really big letdown and nothing would have contained that!

I used a Booby Bib at night until my milk settled down. I tended to use Rite Aid disposable breastpads, they are pretty cheap and did the job for me. The Mazalicious ones were great for when I was really tender, they are so soft.

I have been interested in the Lilypadz ones too - I heard from someone who did some serious leaking that they didn't work for her, but if the leaking was only moderate, then I think they sound good.

Thanks for all the responses...sounds like the Maz-a-licious ones in the cloth could be the way to go...now just gotta find some to buy. Where is the best place to buy, as there doesn't seem to be any (that I can find) on the website Maz's link goes to. I would like to buy soon, as I could be into my BF journey again in the next few weeks.

In that case if they are in limited stock which others would you suggest for now.

And any more recommendations on the disposables?

Rite-Aid for sposies - the only sposies I used that couldn't be seen in tighter clothing I found it helpful to have a stock of these, especially in early days, stashed in my bag for when the cloth ones got full and I couldn't use Lilypadz (when I had thrush and was treating with creams - the pads didn't stick well).
Lilypadz leaked a couple of times, but considering my supply and let down abilities, I'm amazed it wasn't leaky everytime I had a let down!

I use both! Washables during the day and disposables at night. The washable ones don't last long enough for me overnight. I have the same washable ones as you described and yes, they do stand out a bit under some clothes so I wear the disposable ones in those instances.

I've tried SO many brands and my favourites ones are actually Johnson and Johnsons. I find they don't crease/fold up in your bra and they are super comfy and hold a lot of liquid. I leak terribly overnight and they have always contained my spills, LOL.

I have used Pigeon, Tommy Tipee, Medela and a few other brands and they are all brilliant for holding a lot of milk, I just found that they all fold/scrunch up too much and the absorbent inside of the pads tends to fold over making it uneven in your bra, if that makes sense. I haven't had that problem wit Johnson and Johnsons. The J&J don't have the sticky strip though but maybe that's what stops them from scrunching. I love them.

I dont' want to steal your thunder Maz LOL, but Bec, Twinklelily do cloth ones as well and if their breast pads are as comfy and gorgeous as their cloth menstrual pads then you can't go wrong with them
