Hi girls! Well we have reached the 12 month milestone a couple of weeks ago, & other than the occasional bite we seems to be going fine!
Not long ago I bought a "fiddle necklace" so glad I did as Baby K loves playing with it while feeding.

I rarely post on BB anymore but I wanted to come in an share a massive mile stone with some mumma's who will understand. Today we've been breastfeeding for 3 years! The connection with my little one is beyond anything I've ever experienced. We had wanted to make it to 2 years and when that came around I was stoked, I never expected to get this far though!

Sometimes I feel so frustrated & despondent about the powerful hold formula has out there, and the myths & misinformation about breastfeeding - but then I come in here & read about some beautiful success stories & it cheers me up again

I've recently come across some breastmilk jewellery which has got me to thinking that it might be a really lovely way for me to celebrate my breastfeeding journey, because even though he shows no sign of weaning, at nearly 3.5, DS2 can't be that far away from it. A necklace would be a really lovely way to reward myself

I am looking at getting a pendant for my dd to celebrate/memorialise our breastfeeding journey. just haven't seen the right setting yet. I want something with the moon and possibly stars cos we always say 'love you to the moon and back'.

when you find one, let me know! we've said the same thing to DD all her life!

DD is still feeding sporadically. twice some days, not at all on others.

I had an interesting conversation today. Helping my parents clean up their house for sale with several extended family members there. Mum asked if I was still feeding DD (she knows I'm trying to wean her slowly) and Aunt overheard. Aunt was surprised and asked if it was me or her that was keeping it going but wasn't negative at all. She was more surprised because I have never been good with "bodily fluids" lol.

Not long after, brother & SIL came in. By this time DD was getting tired and grabbing my boobs for comfort and saying "my boobie" as she does. SIL says very loudly. "What. You're NOT still feeding her Rowellen!". I said yes at night. She shook her head & carried on a bit. Not sure what she said exactly as I stopped listening lol.

After she left, mum said, "don't worry about what she said. Her DS (age 5.5) still has a bottle before bed."

A little bit later when I was alone with aunt, she gave me a big cuddle and said "don't listen to SIL. You're doing a great job. Both DS & DD are happy." The funny thing is, I have never cared what SIL thought as I've known from the start that we have very different parenting philosophies. CIO & Formula work for her - well good for her. BF and responsiveness work for me so to that.

    Hi all :-)

Well Jett turns 2 next week and he has weaned. He has only had one feed in the last week. When I offer he says "uh uh all gone" and waves me sway.... or blows raspberries on me lol...

I am not sad like I thought I would be. It happened gradually and naturally so we are obviously both ready. I still have some frozen ebm. Maybe I'll get a pendant. Im so proud of what we have achieved together. Now we are ready for the next phase of toddler hood :-)

I haven't been on BB for ages!

Anyway, DD is still feeding at 2 years, 4 month... still feeding A LOT actually. She probably has 3+ feeds through the day soon, and feeds fairly constantly overnight. She asks for it way more than I actually feed her too. She wants to feed for any reason... tired, hungry, thirsty, hurt, overwhelmed, bored. Some days I love that we're still feeding, others it is downright annoying!

I'm not looking at weaning anytime soon. Ideally I would love for her to wean on her own, but I honestly don't think she will do that anytime soon - unless I happen to fall pregnant, in which case, who knows. DS weaned when I was pregnant, so maybe she will too.

I love hearing all these awesome stories about extended breastfeeding. Go us!

DD went to sleep without a BF tonight. I'm sad because she didn't even fight it, just agreed to milk in a cup and a little grope :/ I'm happy because I really ready to end this stage. I'm sad because she's my last baby and I know I will miss this when it does end. I'm happy because she is clearly ready too and I don't feel so bad about it ending. It's not over yet. I will just have to treasure the early morning feeds now as that is all that's left.

Oh dear. She didn't have a morning feed. She said, "can I sleep over at Nanna & Poppy's?". LOL. DH has told her that when she stops having boobie at night time she can have a sleep over at the IL's. I guess she understood that.

Such mixed feelings. I have tears writing this. But it is the right time.

My dd has had times like that. She is fine with no boob and then decides she needs it again. We've gone a week without and then for some reason she needs it again. And "but you didn't need it all week" doesn't matter! Your dd might be at a point if realising she doesn't neeeeed it all the time - she can go without and survive. Doesn't mean she is ready to go without full time. Play it by ear

We just had another week of no boob. I was at the point if acceptance. She takes herself to bed, self settles and all that guff. And then she needed boob the other morning. Said she had a sore throat. And again that night. She didn't get sick, but she HAD to have boob. Got quite distressed when I tried to say "you don't really need it, haven't needed it all week..."
