Sure did. I still flood him and have crazy volumes, but I no longer have a baby wanting feeding again within the hour to soothe his sore tummy. Express the lonely boob and either freeze or discard. Mine have taken about 6 weeks to settle a little. I still have to express some off the 2nd side every night though, to avoid the rock / pain issues.
It was a while ago but I had exactly the same issue with DS and yep a couple of days of block feeding fixed it up. The only problem was I think I spent too long on the first boob, was just trying to finally drain it completely and I didn't express enough off the other one, only enough to keep the rock/pain issue tolerable. After that there was always a bit of asymmetry in my supply but maybe that would have been the case anyway.
Ok thanks girls. Night feeds not going well here tonight- DD2 seems in outright pain part way through a feed after the let downs and mad gulping etc and I've just spent lots of time trying to comfort her- she is burping maybe once or twice but seems in pain. Could the flow be causing reflux like symptoms? I feel like things have escalated :(
That was the point I got to before talking to an LC. Have you tried the ABA line?
No not yet. ABA was a godsend with DD when she was tiny, for different reasons so I will reach out to them tomorrow I think. So with this block feeding thing, how many hours or how many feeds do you spend on the one side? The thing is, my boobs feel like they are settling- they soften nicely after a feed and don't go too hard between single feeds but the let down, or the flow generally, still seems overwhelming.
3 feeds per side. The flow still goes insanely fast though. :(
First two times, I did a big express of both boobs sometime in the first two weeks. It seemed to 'reset' my boobs and they weren't as explosive. I didn't do it this time, and crazy flow has continued longer (although baby also feeds quite differently too). It seems counterintuitive, but it worked for me.
Where do you buy your bfeeding bras? I need new ones and went looking for some cheapies to get me through. Kmart and target both had only their brand ones, and they didn't look they offered much support. I have bought some from DFO Bendon store before, but they are a bit hit and miss for size and range. Haven't been there for at least 18 months so not sure what they like now.
My let down has been more intense (painful?) With each baby. It settled eventually last time, and has again but still quite intense.
Hoti, i ended up getting intimo ones, there is a severe lack of bras avaliable in my area, and these give me the most support
Hotl my let down is painful too this time- painful if DD2 is latched, but just intense if my boobs are leaking a let down in my bra.
I've got some chloe and lola mat. bras from Myer, and a Seraphine one I ordered online from yummy mummy lingerie.

Joining in here as I'm bfing a nearly 9 month old DS.
I bought the cheap Kmart bras for wearing at home or to bed but for going out I find hot milk bras most comfy. I get them from de bras.
DS is doing a lot of snacking on the boob at the moment as though he's just thirsty and grabbing a drink. It's almost like a playful quick drink and he's started giving my nipple a little bite while he's there to show off his brand new teeth. What age should/can we introduce water? He doesn't bite when he's actually hungry and wants a feed so I'm wondering if a sippy cup of water between feeds is ok.
Gosh I haven't posted in here forever. I am 26 months in to #3 tomorrow.
HotI, cake lingerie are the only feeding bras I buy now. We have no stores for decent bras here and I find the chain store ones only good for home. Online it is.
if you buy online, do you just measure yourself to work out the size, or have you been fitted somewhere before or tried some on to work out your size?
I know I am generally a size 10C but sometimes slightly larger depending on brands so I usually order two sizes in a bra I like if it is a style or brand I'm unfamiliar with and post the one that doesn't fit back (I check beforehand if they offer refunds etc).
Cake had a great explanation of measuring for fit, and they offer a great exchange service. I have had to use it (because all bras just aren't the same) and they were quick and awesome - and I live in the back of whoop whoop.

Hi everyone. DD3 was six mths on Tues and still ebf. She had a grab and suck on my apple the other day, but no eating yet. She's not sitting, still learning to control things with her hands and hardly any drool, so I suspect she's a bit off being ready for family foods just yet. She sits with us each night at dinner, on my lap, chattering and joining in with the social part of eating. It's so cute! It's my favourite part of the day, all of us sitting around the table and chatting.
DD2 also still on two bfs, morning and night.
How is everyone else?
I just posted in the over 12 month thread. But think sickness has lead Spock to.possible weaning. Will know.for sure in a few days when she is better.
I wouldn't be surprised if once she's feeling better she wants to bf again, TT.
Hi girls would like to join this thread if that's ok. My bub is 5 wks old and im struggling with breastfeeding. I have low supply so I'm on Domperidone from Doc and atm I'm feeding on demand and topping up after each feed with formula. Hoping to go exclusive bfeeding. It's hard work feeding both ways it takes such a long time. Some days after feeds he'll still take 100ml Aptamil Formula. It's a bit disheartening. Anyone any advice or had similar circumstances?
Hi Bunnyfeet, welcome! Well done on bfing even though you're having a few challenges. Have you tried the ABA helpline 1800 mum 2 mum. It is absolutely possible to work towards exclusively bfing at this stage. 5 wks is still early days.
Hi, my little one is 8 weeks and I'm going back to work tomorrow.. Any working moms out there have any suggestions on when/ how often/ for how long I should pump? 😔
Hi Aduran I just saw your post. Sorry you didn't get a response. How did you go back at work? I think the ABA have a few articles on returning to work and pumping.
I'm popping back in. Feeding DD2 who is 9 months. Fed DD1 until 18 months, when I fell preggers with #2 and DD1 decided my altered hormones made funny tasting milk and weaned herself. DD2 has not been an easy BF journey with all sorts of issues. Most of which we eventually sorted with the help of a LC, lactation specialist GP and tongue/lip tie revision. But Even now she is very sensitive to the slightest changes in the BF status quo, such as she having a cold or teething or my menstrual cycle. AF returned at 8 months and I noticed a real drop in supply around ovulation and again just before AF arrived. Same thing around ovulation second month in and we'll see when AF comes this time around.
Any tips for maintaining supply at these junctures? Lactation cookies don't seem to cut it. She is so fussy that when my supply drops or letdown becomes slower she loses all patience and isn't willing to suckle for that bit longer for the letdown.
Sorry, LL, no,tips, but try ABA? My DD3 is my least enthusiastic bfer and is easily distracted and frustrated that let down doesn't occur immediately.
Still bfing DD2 once in the evening, but I think I could stop whenever I want. There are some nights when she actively asks and is upset when I end the bf, but other nights she's not that fussed.
I'm offical,y tandem feeding... Not really enjoying it, but I know Spock still needs it so can't take it off her just yet. In fact today was first time I fed them both at the same time, fun times in 40degree heat =p

LL I have no tips either, sorry :( My feeding with DS is very different to with DD and we've had our problems, but supply hasn't been one of them so I've got no idea. Good luck finding a solution though.
Hey LL, sorry I missed your post. Also have no advice sorry...I too have the opposite problem...extremely fast and strong let down and bucket loads of milk... Umm I get no sleep and drink way too much coffee if that helps?=p
TT40 the sad thing is that I was like that at first with DD2, and I was all the way with DD1. But I haven't quite been able to reach that place with my milk since those awful first three months. TBH I think we are both still a bit traumatised by it!
I did find an interesting article on kellymom re supply and ovulation- sometimes magnesium and calcium together can help.
Ps I drink way too much coffee!
Ladylove, fighting against hormonal changes is difficult. have you tried breast compressions to help dd to get milk?
TT40 - Congrats! I tried feeding both kids once or twice, but hated it. I went on to tandem feed for 18 months just taking turns with them. Does Spock feed often?
i am solo feeding miss 10 months old. Its going ok, but i will be talking to someone about a possible revision for her tongue/lip tie. I don't know what the future holds, so just doing what we do for now. We managed to get through dd having gastro over christmas, and although her nappies were a bit concerning for awhile, managed to survive with boob and hydrolyte.
Compressions don't help the letdown speed for me, which is always slower when my supply is low.
