Leckert I don't know that the lines go any way in particular! Just be really careful of it - it is possible to get mastitis without the flu symptoms. How is the breast today?
Less bumpy today at the spot - didn't try to massage it out (I imprint easily and takes ages for scars to disappear) As i wasn't sure if playing/massaging it yesterday was making it more tender. Has seemed to fade on the wiggly line but still there and the spot looks a bit like a pimple/bite but I'm keeping an eye in it and feeding ds / expressing more from that size just in case.
I'm rereading Pinky for bub no2 and I think she makes even more sense after having one child LOL.
I have a painful annoying lump in one breast for several days now, it's getting bigger and smaller over the day and moving around a bit but I can't get rid of it completely and now my nipple is in pain too. I really dislike expressing and was worried if I did I may make it worse by bringing on more milk - I've had oversupply issues. Any suggestions or should I keep massaging in the shower and when he feeds. My sister suggested cabbage leaves but I'm not sure?
Dusty - I had an annoying lump that wouldn't go with number 2. I ended up using ultrasound. It was large and would grow and shrink but never really go completely. I did ultrasound at home for about 4 days and then I went into the breastfeeding clinic at the local hosp and they asked the physio to come in and she did ultrasound on me and we used an electric pump and all of a sudden a huge amount of colostrum type milk came out and the lump just went after that. A bit TMI, sorry.
Thanks Lenny and TT it's much better, still tender but not very lumpy. Think DS wasn't draining me properly as he's reduced his feeds the last couple of (wonder) weeks. Yay Joeve, a great milestone
Hey thought I would stop in here as u have a few questions!! It's been such a long time.
First dd was born Sunday morning so is about 5 days old. On Sunday she did 3 large mec poops throughout the day. Since then NOTHING!! We have a midwife app today so will address it with them and I did tell them on the phone yesterday and they didn't seem to worried. Did anyone else have this issue? She doesn't seem fussy well any more fussy then a 5 day old is. Doesn't seem in pain and has some good naps. We are getting frequent wet nappies now my milk has come in (came in yesterday)
Second question- when your milk comes in doesn't anyone express to make sure the wide is empty? Dd has been spending a good 20-30min on the first side then fills up on the second. But I know I'm not completely drained on the first side yet as some hardness too the breast still but she won't keep going on same breast. I know it's early on and my supply will settle but omg that hardness is ouchie but I figure I I do keep emptying my body will produce way more then I need

Well, DS is 9mos old and I'm looking for advice to start dropping some feeds.
He still feeds hourly (unless we are out, then he'll only feed 4-5 hourly).
He eats so much solids, it's ridiculous lol. He just loves food! And water, too.
He still feeds 2-3 times overnight, but the does sleep OK when he only feeds 3-4 times during the day. It's just a settling thing, which I'm hoping to stop soon. I'm doing the No Cry Sleep Solution, it has helped his sleep so far.
...so my days of not squirting have ended. I only lasted a week!! I now squirt across the room again, am currently feeding Spock to sleep my other boob has soaked through 2 breast pads, my bra and my top!!

I squirted the lady sitting next to me in doctor's waiting room when DD was very little. She didn't seem to notice, though. That's about it for me too.
Charlotte, have you tried giving the ABA helpline a call? They can talk you though some ideas that might work for you.
Just thought I'd pop in here. I'm approaching the time when I started supplementing with formula with DD1 and I don't want to do it again (yet!). I feel like we are going really well, but I thought that with DD1 too and started with top ups at night at 16 weeks. I figure by chatting here its less likely to happen again!
Beatrix, this time around with a nb I only gave one side to DD2 each feed. If she's fussy, I'd take her off, burp her, settle her and put her back on the same side. With DD1, once I gave her both sides per feed I ended up getting blockages and mastitis. Oversupply was a factor, but I had no problems this time. So for blocks of time (say, two hours), I'd stick with one side. Your supply is hormone driven at this stage. I stayed away from expressing so as not to encourage further oversupply, but expressing a little for comfort might help.
