Inertia: Congratulations on reaching 7 months - well done!

Greenslw: That's terrible about the broken collar bone - but good news that your bub isn't in pain because of it. Sorry, no ideas about wind. My DS has never had big wind problems, but when he was a newborn I sometime would sit him upright, maybe jiggle him a little on my knee - and usually if he needed to burp he would.

Shanti: Oh, that sounds awful. Your poor DD, and poor you! I hope she's doing better. How lucky that she had you and b/f there to calm and comfort her.

Minny: Hang in there - those growth spurts are hard work, but they do pass.

AFM: Well, we reached 12 months of breastfeeding 2 days ago!!! I can't believe we've really been going that long - cause to me it really doesn't seem long at all. I guess b/f has just become such a normal part of my everyday life that I don't think much of it.
I feel so lucky to have not come across many problems (well, apart from b/f with nipple shields full time). I've never had to give DS any formula (TBH I wouldn't even know how to prepare a bottle). I plan to keep going for as long as DS wants me (which I'm hoping is at least to 2 years) - but we'll see how we go!

I have noticed that DS has dropped a lot of feeds recently though. Usually I still offer every 3-4 hours, but I'm noticing he's feeding for less, or losing interest a lot more quickly. If I don't offer he doesn't seem fussed either. Yesterday was his birthday party, and it was all pretty full on. I was busy, DS was having a ball playing with new toys and eating party food (healthy party food) - and before I knew it 6 hours had passed without me giving him a breastfeed. But he didn't care - he never asked for it, and when I offered a feed he wasn't desperate for it. I know we're still a long way off weaning (especially the night feeds ), but it's still so sad that he doesn't want feeds as much as he once did. *sigh* It's just another sign that he's really not a little baby anymore - that along with the fact that he started walking yesterday (not just a couple of steps - full on walking - 28 steps is his record ).

So, here's to the next 12 months of breastfeeding for me and DS .
