Just wanted to pop in & join the chat again - it's been 13 months since i weaned DS

DD is 3 days old & has so far been alot easier than DS ( who would scream for a feed before he even woke up). She was born weighing 4070g & was weighed today & had only lost 200g, which makes me happy with how we're going! This time ive demand fed from the start and was able to have skin to skin & offer a feed straight after she was born

Looking fwd to chatting with everyone!

Welcome - and congrats on your little girl!

I found it a lot easier the second time even with the long gap, which I attribute to skin on skin and feeding straight after birth.

Urgh, I have an awful bout of mastitis. My poor left bb is all red and streaky and so sore. I had a raging fever last night and I'm still not good. Def on the way back though. Plus, I'm getting lots of cuddles and smiles in bed with my beautiful baby. So it's not all bad!

Congratulations Sloane! Another little girl in the 4 kilo club (mine was too) - you'll be back to birthweight in no time at that rate

Oh Jennifer, that's no good, I hope you're improving very quickly

Things are good here, bbs VERY engorged this morning after DD's third ever sleep through - first in months. Perhaps it was the 4 month jabs yesterday that did it, but I don't care, it was lovely Not that I'm up for long though, and not that I didn't wake up, but you know what I mean...

Wannabe mumma - I get it totally a few times little man has slept till 4 or 5 am and I'm still waking at 3ish thinking oh it hasn't feed yet - wow BBs sore! Lol then it's sometimes hard to get back to sleep cuz I think oh he will wake up any mints and then he doesn't but I'm still awake lol.

I'm still going well. My supply has increased again for little mans growth spurt at 3 months so happy about that. Had a little scare yesterday when I think he had a reaction to some type of cream a friend was wearing. He was screaming for about 1ins and his leg went all red and swelled a little. Very glad I was at work with my pediatrician and she checked him and it cleared up after about 15 mins but it was so sad seeing him so upset! Def will be more careful what I wash in, wear and eat etc incase he is allergic to anything.

Oh I'm hearing you on the ouchy boobs when Monkeyboy randomly decides to sleep longer than usual. He's just started going down around 7pm and will now sleep till around 2-3am but had a night or two of waking at 4-5am instead. I was waking up at 2am, going back to sleep only to wake up every few minutes because sleeping on basketballs isn't easy. And they leak occasionally, especially if he's slept a lot longer than usual.

Made the mistake of eating coleslaw the other day. It was there and I was hungry....not doing that again! Boy oh boy was he a little bugle bum for the rest of the day

Sore bb is much better today but I'm still taking it easy. DD1 stayed home since she had a tummy bug last night so we're all laying around a bit.

I was tempted to express before bed last night to make sure my poor bb was emptied, but DD2 cooperated and had an 11pm feed anyway. It's the one night time feed she often skips but I was glad she didn't this time.

Ck - what's in coleslaw that disagrees with LO? I had a pasta the other day with thinly sliced garlic in it which was delicious!!! But lots of poopies the next day! Lol

CK - I leak all the time, the breast pads this morning were disgusting! I have to wear them 24/7. Probably don't have to wear them during the day any more, but definitely at night, which means I sleep in bf-ing singlets to hold them in place.

    Hi Everyone,

Hope I can slide into this tread

I'm a first time mummy, DD is 4weeks old. BF seems to be going well so far. DD was 3.8kilos born and weighed 4.71 this morning at the chemist. That was with nappy and a onesie on, don't know how much to subtract?

I have to wear breast pads aswell, somedays they are soaked.

Look forward to chatting with everyone.

Rosey, my m/w suggested taking off about 150 gms with the clothes DD2 had on the other day, and it wasn't much more than your baby. You could weigh the clothes and nappy on the kitchen scales at home!

That's a good weight gain though. How's everything else going with bfing?

I bought both of my pg sisters ABA subscriptions for their baby shower gifts. They got them today. Since they're already getting all of DD2's clothes and MCNs as she grows out of them. I thought something practical might be good! I bought my own subscription when DD1 was a couple of months old and I know how much I loved the mags and the group get-togethers. And I've lent my book to someone and haven't gotten it back, so I couldn't pass it on to them. Figured it was easier to join them up than trying to track my book down!

Wow rosey I think even minus 100 or so grams 4.47 is fantastic at 4 weeks. My girl had her seven week weigh in today and she is 4.57.
Jennifer glad to hear you are feeling a little better. My DD has had a few almost all nighters in the last two weeks, waking around 4am. My breasts are like melons too when that happens and they leave a trail of milk from the bed to the cot or bathroom when I get up (I don't wear a bra or pads to bed as they only really leak last thing at night and first thing in the morning).

Can I ask a question re supply settling - I've heard that around 6 weeks the supply settles. We are seven weeks and my breasts feel softer all the time now, not just after a feed. I am worried that they have 'settled' too much and there is not enough milk now because of this soft feeling. DD also has become fussy after feeds - I thought it was a bit of wind or milk coming back up as often she is better after a burp or even five or so minutes without a burp but maybe she is still hungry or has become a lazy sucker? She will drink from 5-10 minutes (she has always been a fast drinker) then pull off and doze for a minute or two then she wants to go back on but keeps pulling herself off again without really sucking. So I will offer the second breast and she might take a few big sucks but then fusses again and cries when I lift her up. But there would be no reason why my milk would dry up would there? Not if I feed every 2-3 hours in the day even if she does not feed much at night?
