How much does/did your 16mth old eat?

DD is very petite, has ALWAYS been the 10th% for her weight and everyone used to comment about if i fed her enough.
The MCHN was ALWAYS happy with her weight gains etc but i was so annoyed with people, this LITTLE girl currently eats like a 4yr old boy, she is very very active.

So i would love to know, how much does your 16mth old eat in a day.

Yesterday we weren't home, we were at our new house so i took some snacks with us to last til 12, this is what she at in an entire day.

    B/w 8am and 12.

2 slices of toast, 1 kids fruit muesli finger, yoghurt, 1 banana and 2 biscuits out of my lesnak (sp?) and a small milo

then about 1 she had a sandwich, at about 3:30 she had half an apple for tea she had half a chop, some pasta side dish with veggies but didn't eat as much as normal.

She then tried to steal her dads tea when he got home SOOOO i made her a pancake with yoghurt and mango (1/2 a mango.. she's obsessed).

CLEARLY there is nothing wrong with the amount she eats, she eats more than i do most days... but i would love to know if this is LESS or MORE compared to others her age?

My 14 month old DD is a dinky little thing that eats like a horse too.

She goes to daycare 4 days a week so this is what she would typically have in a day.
    Breakfast: 6am BF, porridge.
In her lunchbox: one large jar of food, one small jar, a cucumber, a banana, a sandwich, tub of yoghurt, sultanas.
Afternoon tea: BF, whatever is left from her lunchbox.
Dinner: Whatever we are having and she often eats more than her big brother. Evening BF.

sandwich or pasta or what ever im having for lunch

what ever we are having for dinner...and she always has hers and then shares ours too lol

    Hi,

There is really just no point camparing what one child eats compared to another. They are so individual. It sounds like she's a healthy, petite little girl. You are doing a fabulous job with her. She sounds like she has a healthy, varied diet and sounds like she enjoys her food. That's all that really matters

Hi there, my DD is 19 months and sounds like she doesn't eat quite that much??? I get paranoid as well and have asked a couple of diff nurses and they've all said the same...'you can only provide the healthy, varied food and it's up to them whether they eat it or not!' I still stressed after hearing this a few times but then began to watch her more closely and they were right wouldn't ya know

My DD isn't big on meat and is still slow on 'family' meals but hey I figure each day/week she makes progress, I always offer her new stuff but she's one of those toddlers who has to have something up to 20 times before it'll become something she likes (It also took me a while to realise that she needed soooo much repitition with food haha)

As Barb said they're all hugely different, sounds like she eats heaps and is getting lots of fruit & veg so don't stress. My sister has 2 x DD and they are both barely on the 'scale' - around 1-2%. It's all in the genes....if you or your DP/DH are slim/from slim build families that's where your DD gets it from. When you think about it....what the heck is the scale for??? Makes everyone paranoid if they're little one is below or above the 'norm', just be happy she's eating heaps I reckon
