My DS2 is 10months and is breastfeeding plus solids and water. He will not drink formula or anything from a baby bottle (and my ability to express is hopeless). He starts daycare in a week and was wondering if they can offer cows milk? (It would be in a silicone spout sippy cup the same as his water cup) He currently has cows milk in his weetbix and also has yoghurt and cheese no worries. I know he won't "need" it and my DS1 didn't have breast milk (or a substitute) during the day at daycare from 7 months. The milk won't be in place of breast milk but maybe with his morning and afternoon tea iykwim... So anyone know if its ok?
He should be fine. Keep an eye on his BMs and take note if he mentions he has a sore tummy or anything. But if he is already having it in other way (on his cereal etc) then he should be fine. If he does have a tummy reaction to drinking the straight milk, try rice or oat milk instead. If he is still BF then you don't need to be concerned about it being a 'whole milk product for children under 3 or 5'.
He doesn't need it though, if he doesn't like it, water will suffice while he is at CC.
Both my girls can eat milk on cereal, yoghurt, cheese, ice cream, but if they drink cows milk or eat too much cheese, they end up with sore tummies and very soft BM, so they drink rice, oat and almond milk instead.
This is fantastic to know as I'm also back a work in two weeks and also can't express more than a few mls so I've been beside myself on what I was going to give DS2 to drink.
