As well as what happens during birth, the pre and postnatal care are also very important. Most women get little preparation for breastfeeding, even if they do the hospital antenatal classes - doing a breastfeeding one is highly recommended - and post natally things are often dependent on which midwife you happen to get, how quickly they want to move you from the delivery room, whether they routinely separate mother and baby (as sometimes still happens), what sort of expertise your carers have with lactation, and so on.
Yes that's so true. My postnatal care was excellent aside from a couple of midwives. Booking a home visiting LC was one of the best things I did. Also to me there was no option other than BF. I was so determined nothing was going to stop me. My milk was a little late coming in but I think that was due to dehydration.
