Dr Browns Baby Bottles

Hi all

Just wondering who uses Dr Browns bottles? I've heard they are great, and was tossing up between the plastic & glass ones..

Any feedback/ recommendations or advise very welcome!!

(I'm only 23 weeks ATM and just trying to be prepared )

If you are FF glass is fine but not if you are planing to BF

At a guess i'd say FF. Am intending on having a few bottles at the back of the cupboard if BF doesn't go as planned! Thanks for your reply!

I ended up with Pigeon bottles, we used the BF bottles for EBM and formula initially.

we used dr.Browns bottles and exclusively expresssed Breastmilk for 12 months...they are awesome!!! Highly recommend them.....

yup, te narrow necked pastic ones cos the narrow necked ones fitted the medela breast pump fittings.

Absolutely love the Dr Browns bottles. We used the plastic ones as well. They were my DS1's favourite of all the bottles.

Can I ask why you can't use the glass if BFing?

I was looking at the newborn starter kit, with 3 x 240ml & 2 x 120 ml bottles. Is it worth it? Or just get all 240ml bottles? How long would I use the 120ml bottles for?
(as you can see, I really have no clue!!!)

I only got the 240ml ones and just put half the amount to start with. As long as you have the right teat flow, they should be fine.
Not really sure why I used the plastic, didn't really think of it at the time.

You shouldn't use glass when breastfeeding as breastmilk leaves a fine film that builds up on the glass bottles and holds bacteria in. So unless you want to scrub and scrub each time, plastic is better with breastmilk if that makes sense.

I have to say....not really! A film also builds up on plastic. The drill is - with whatever bottles cold rinse, warm soapy wash with bottle brush, rinse. If formula feeding you need to sterilise bottle. Breastmilk doesn't easily grow bacteria - it has it's own antibacterial properties. Bacteria grow readily in formula. Many breastfeeding mums never ever use a bottle - they are not a necessary part of life with baby.
