    Expressing and storage of EBM

    Hi,

I expressed yesterday afternoon and got 60mls, now I'm 100% that this is not going to be enough for my ds2 for a bottle if we gave it to him. (he's 6mts and 8.2kg - a big boy!)

I've got a couple of questions:

I put it in the fridge after I expressed but forgot to transfer it to the freezer last night, is it still ok to freeze now or should I chuck it?

How do I add to it? If it's in the fridge do I just express then tip it into the same bottle? How many times can I do this?

If it's frozen can I add to it or do I freeze separate little batches then defrost them and mix together or do they need to be in separate bottles?

Defrosting - do I need to do this the day/night before I'm going to use it?

Too many variables!!!!! My head hurts!!!!!

    It's OK to freeze now.
You can add more milk to that bottle in the freezer, but only after the new milk has been well chilled in the fridge.
Defrost by leaving in the fridge or if you need faster defrosting then stand it in warm water and swirl every so often. If you need uber-fast defrosting then stand in water from a hot kettle - but the milk won't be as nutritious as if it were defrosted more gently.

Thanks!!! I'll go put it in the freezer now, I'm so glad I don't have to chuck it! That stuff is liquid gold!!!

If you add to it you need to cool it in the fridge to the same temp first. I would freeze 2 lots at a time. It should be ok to freeze today
