My 7.5 month old has not been too interested in solids yet, but has been eating some for about a week (mainly rice cereal with pureed apple/carrot and some finger food). But the last three days he has refused all solids; have tried finger foods, rice cereal, oats, apple, carrot, broccoli, yoghurt and sweet potato. He pushes the spoon away and isn't even interested in feeding himself.
My question is, is this normal and should I keep offering him food once a day, or give it a rest and try again in a few days time?
Oh and i forgot to mention that he is fully BF and has about 5-6 feeds during the day and 1-2 during the night. He has his usual number of BF and seems to be his normal self...
DD is 11 months on Sunday and we're still fairly touch and go when it comes to solids. Most days she has a little bit of toast with daddy in the mornings, and one meal with me during the day - usually about 10 baby spoons worth. She still refuses solids a lot by pushing the spoon away or just wiping everything off the highchair if it's finger foods.
What about food is fun until they're one and then......well keep on making it fun!! My DD was one on Sat and the only thing she does is lick prunes and grapes and pear!! Not eating, no chewing nothing!!! I worried at 7 months, then 8 and so on. Now I don't worry - the paed said she would eat when's ready and our job is to offer but never force.
So always offer food - either in spoon or finger foods but never force and don't worry. If your bubs is losing weight or unhappy see doc but other than that don't worry. My little girl is doing extremely well with ONLY breastmilk!
