    From formula to Cows Milk

    Hi Ladies
Looking for some ideas/answer, when doing the swap from Formula to milk, I have been told to add milk in ratio's to the formula gradually (ie, 150mls formula + 50mls milk; then 100:100; etc). Question is, should the formula be measured as per 150mls water or 200mls for the entire fluid volume? I have only started this today but have been wondering. Any ideas would be appreciated.
DD is 14mths & this is our second go as I completely stuffed up the first go two months ago & made her sick. I don't want to get it wrong again!
    Thanks heaps.

I made up the formula as per the ratio to water then added milk gradually changing the ratio over 2 weeks. That worked for us.

We went cold turkey! We were on our last evening of our holidays and ran out of formula so DD (who had turned 1 two weeks earlier) had cows milk that night and the following day (flying home) and she was fine. We never looked back.

My theory was she'd been having it for months on her cereal anyway and ate a lot of other dairy products already so the adjustment should be minor - there was no adjustment period at all!

I remember making up a smaller amount (like 90 ml of formula) and topping the bottle up with cow's milk to say 210 ml. I only did that a couple of times and then went straight to 100% cow milk. DS was fine with that. From about 8 months or so I started giving him cow milk on wheetbix or in his parridge so he was used to the taste. Hope the transition is nice and smooth for you this time

Thanks ladies! Your help is much appreciated. So far so good, so hopefully she's ready this time. She eats plenty of yoghurt & cheese, so she should be ok I would think. Thanks again!

My two older kids went straight on to cow's milk, I didn't mix it with formula at all, no problmes.
If you do want to mix it (maybe help with the taste adjustment) mix the formula as per the instructions, and then gradually add more cows milk to that. So make 150ml of formula as you normally would; as you start to add more cows milk, make the formula amount less. Or mix up 150ml & then split it between two bottles.
