Help! Advice needed to help introduce a bottle (EBM) to 3 month old
Hi everyone,
My DS2 is 3 months old and has been breastfed exclusively since birth. I want him to be familiar with drinking EBM from a bottle so that I can have a bit of freedom.
I have tried giving him a bottle of EBM and he screws up his face and cries and doesn't drink it. I have tried doing this when he is hungry and also after a small feed but he still won't take it. I have only consistently been trying for the last couple of days and have only done it before the late afternoon/dinner feed.
He doesn't have a dummy.
I am trying Tommee Tippee bottles with number 1 teats and/or number 2 teats - doesn't seem to make a difference. My DS1 liked the bottles but he was familiar with them (EBM) from an earlier age.
I agree. Both my sons refused EBM in bottle from me but took it from DH and grandparents!! The real thing from the warm booby is so much better than defrosted in a bottle!!!!
I have tried giving him freshly expressed milk and also tried the pigeon bottle/teat as well as the Tommee Tippee bottles I have. None have worked at this stage. I have tried giving him the bottle when he is hungry and also when he is full - none have worked although he is less likely to refuse it being in his mouth when he is full. If I offer it when he is hungry he cries hysterically. He has never sucked on the bottle properly. He won't take the bottle from me or DH.
