It's been ages since I've been on here! Life with a baby certainly catches up with you! :/ how I missed BB!!
So.... DD used to be such a good sleeper! Since she's recovered from being sick (TBH, we aren't sure whether she had a tummy bug, teething, or what! But she had a NASTY cough, and dirrhea and vomiting for 2 weeks, and was right on the verge of being hospitalized!) but then, suddenly overnight, when we noticed a tooth, the symptoms nearly completely went away! Coincedence?), since then, she HATES going to sleep most times! Sometimes she's her usual self and goes to sleep easily, but other/most times shes been putting up a scream fest just to go to sleep! Like last night, she went to sleep initially pretty easily, but come around 1am, she wakes up screaming and crying, and was going between crying, being awake and falling asleep for over TWO HOURS!!! Finally she fell asleep on my chest, and then slept til 7am, so around 3.5-4hrs. She's been doing it for some day sleeps too, so it's not just restricted to night time this problem. But other sleeps, she's fine! We put her to sleep as soon as we see tired signs (but occasionally we miss the first ones because were out and she won't sleep when were out)
We don't know if it's behavioral or if she's in pain? Her cries come in waves, as though the pain goes away and comes back like a tummy ache or tooth ache, but distracting her with something like a phone works, (however just picking her back up or changing positions or giving cuddles don't help at all, she just keeps screaming)
Her sleep hasn't been as good as it used to be when she was really little (I.e. She used to sleep 6-7hr stretches, but since like 3-4mos. Only been sleeping about 3-4 hr stretches, 5 if really lucky) but all she'd want is a feed and shed go straight back to sleep! None of this crying and screaming stuff!!
I can't help but wonder if perhaps it's because we've been doing solids? (both a mix of BLS and purees) and it's giving her a tummy ache?? Or could it be my milk? But then I think it hasnt affected her this badly before and I haven't changed anything??
Ahhh bloody he'll I'm too tired to deal with this properly :/
Please help!!!
Oh, we also cosleep, so I use that to get more sleep already![]()

My LO has nasty poos and unsettled (more than usual) sleep when she has teeth coming through. Her amber necklace got her through most ok, but lately her molars have come through and they were doozys! So, it could been teeth coming through. How do you feel about panadol (or similar)? i don't give it often, but sometimes i have got to the point where i just don't know what is happening, have given panadol and then bub has slept- and i am pretty sure she was in pain and it gives her a rest to break the cycle.
I don't think it has anything to do with your milk.
We did BLS, and the change from just breastmilk to solid food can take awhile for their little tummies to adjust. You could give the solids a break for a couple of days or it might just fix itself over a couple of weeks.
i think there is a wonder week at week 26- maybe this occurred at same time as the tooth was coming through.
For the day sleeps, i find taking bub out into the sun and fresh air before their sleep, and then coming in and feeding etc can help if they are struggling to get to sleep but are tired.
hope you find something that helps
It could be food. It could be teeth.
It could well be normal baby randomness. They change. This is a certainty.
My DD slept quite well as a little tacker. Hasn't since 3 months or so. Now a 3-hour stretch would be AWESOME! She also does the awake crying in teh middle of the night for hours thing. Sometimes she's not upset and I just put earplugs in and doze while she does it
Aside from co-sleeping, I'd also advice naps and weekend sleep-ins.
For day sleeps also maybe she wants to be awake longer...? If she's really fighting it then just do somethign else for a bit (maybe outside like hoti suggests) and try again later
Just wondering, Can AF cause all thi? Because I got it today and wondering because she's been abit fussy (assumed that was from tiredness, but maybe not?) that maybe my milk was upsetting her tummy because of it, and that maybe she is actually hungry but doesn't like the taste of the milk?

ah. babies can get fussy at the breast with the return of af. Shoudlnt' upset her tummy though.
Ahhhh... Just trying to work put the screaming!! :/

Hmm... I am having a thought that maybe I have a vicious cycle going here... She is teething, thus causing pain and waking her, and not letting her sleep, and causing overtiredness and making her wake more often... You see the cycle happening here.. :/ and maybe AF is causing some
BR too, which doesn't help matters, because she doesn't seem all too interested in boob ATM...
Now... How to break this cycle?? :/

Do whatever you can to make up sleep tomorrrow. Does she sleep in the car? or sleep if you wear her in a carrier or go for a walk in the pram? If you lie down with her will she sleep for longer?
Do you need to drive anywhere far away?
Does she stay asleep if the car stops? go for a drive, let her fall asleep, park somewhere and keep the radio on and read a book for awhile til she wakes up.
Or take a long walk with her in the carrier and hope she falls asleep.
