Question How long did it take for your cycle to return after having a baby & breastfeeding?

    Hi,

Mods, please move this if it's in the wrong section.... wasn't sure where to put this thread?!

How long did it take for your cycle (AF) to return after having your baby? I'm breastfeeding and hoping to here from other breastfeeding Mumma's to hear when your AF returned??

I'm hoping AF returns by the time DD is 12mths as we're hoping to try to conceive another beautiful bub around the time DD is 12-15mths

    TIA

there is a poll in body post baby area but its for both BF and FF so not realllllly what your after

i got mine back at 9 months with sophie, she started sleeping 10 hours at 3 weeks and slept through 12 hours at around 10 weeks, so it took awhile to come back considering i wasnt feeding overnight, still MIA this time

Well, we're still bfing, and I had AF on the dot, typical (for me) 30-34 day cycyle at 2, 3 and 4 months, got a funny one at 5 months... and then it went missing until she was almost 9 months And have since been regular-ish, about every 32-38 days.

I'm pretty sure that doesn't help though sorry!

6 weeks with dd1 and 8 weeks with dd2. First time my cycle was 3 weeks and it took about 6 months to get back to normal, second time around its back to 28 days.

E is almost 11 mths and no sign of AF! She is still feeding overnight though.

With D AF came back within about 6 wks! So it must be a bit random

DS was exclusively BF with lots of BFs overnight until about 10 months. He wouldn't have a bar of solids at first but then once he was into them (at 10 months) he fairly quickly reduced his BFs to just two a day. Then we kept the morning feed until he self-weaned at 14 months. My first AF arrived for his first birthday party (how nice ).

DD is a really random sleeper, sometimes she feeds all night, sometimes she sleeps through. She's been well into solids since about 7 months and I know she's reduced her BM intake but I wouldn't have a clue how many feeds she has a day (I never count them). Anyway, she's nearly 10 months now and still no sign AF for me

Came back at around 5 months but they aren't too regular -- just got my second one, 35 days after my first and it is a bit weird... very light and just odd.

3 months with DS, and 5 months with DD. Both were feeding frequently round the clock.

DS was 15 months when my af came back. I guess its different for everyone. DS was having about 3 feeds in a 24 hour period including 1 decent feed most nights.

My body seems to kick into 'baby making mode' i.e return of AF around the 9-10mth mark. I never got AF before conceiving DD#3 (caught the eggy b4 my first AF), but when DD#3 was around 10 months old, she returned. We conceived DS 1 cycle later....

Its very, very different for everyone from what you will hear. Best signs i had of my fertility returning was CM...

    Good luck !!!

AF came back for me at 7 months and my cycles went into a 33 day cycle. Fell pregnant again when DS was 11 months. He self-weaned at 14.5 months.

i got AF back 13 months after having DS1, exactly 2 weeks after his last ever feed. We had been down to 1 feed a day for a couple of weeks and only 2 a day from about 10 months.
Still no sign of a return with DS2 and he is 5 months.
I love having no periods, but it does make it difficult to choose between feeding and trying for the next bub.
