DS is going to spend a night without me on November 5th. He will be almost one (his bday is the 24th). I was hoping to have him on formula, but this hasn't eventuated.
He will probably be without boob from 3pm till, roughly 10/11am-ish the following day. So... 20 hours away? How much EBM do you think I'll need for that time period?? How many bottles will he have?? How much per bottle?? I'm so clueless!
We are currently demand feeding, some days 2 feeds, other days 10... so really nothing concrete. And we co-sleep, so he often has a little slurp during the night.
And also, I'm having a few drinks that night. How long do I have to wait before giving him the boob? Will it be alcoholic the following day?? To be honest, I want to get a little 'loose' that night.. hehehe (its my wedding night)..
Can you have a rough guess at how much he would normally drink in those hrs?? ALSO IF HE HAS SOLIDS, MORE OF THOSE WONT HURT JUST FOR A FEW HRS TILL YOU GET BACK TO HIM..
Alcohol leaves the milk at the same rate as the blood stream... so once your right to drive, your usually right to feed, seeing as such a small amount crosses to the milk...
However much you leave, leave it in small doses.. nothing worse than someone having to chuck out a heap cause he drank 50ml out of 200ml!!!
The alcohol will be out of your system by then - it's roughly 2 hours per standard drink.
If you're not there he may not have any at all - How do you go with pumping? If it's easy just set aside whatever you can and see how he goes. If it's hard, just get whoever's looking after him to offer food & water (and cuddles of course) instead.

I'm not the best expresser. So I think I'm just going to try and get as much as possible, and hopefully that will do. The thing is, I'm not even sure if he will drink a bottle, but if not, there's always a sippycup. I'm sure he'll be fine. He loves his solids so I know he's not going to starve, haha! I think it's really just the whole comfort thing...
Thanks too for letting me know about the alcohol, I wasn't too sure what the rules are. I guess I figured I'd have to do the express and 'dump', before feeding him? obviously not the case however.
I've been told to assume roughly 150ml per kilo per day ... so my boy is around 7kgs, and he drinks 200-250ml per feed of EBM, and he usually has 5 feeds a day (three EBM from a bottle, 2 BF) sometimes with a little BF snack late at night.
With the alcohol, it's such a small amount, if you're allowing standard "driving" time you'll be fine (and so will bubs )
With the length of time you'll be out though, I would strongly recommend that you make time to pump at least 2 or 3 times - even if it's not draining your bbs completely, and even if you're having a ripper of a time, and you need to throw the alcoholic milk out (alternatively, mix it with a bit of kaluah, and... no, let's not go there...) - you don't want to have blocked ducts or mastitis for the next few weeks!

Actually expressing a bit while you're out, at least for comfort, is a good suggestion. You probably will get a bit uncomfortable otherwise.
If T is anything like Mr I, he only wants milk from the source. He won't take a bottle, but does take some from a soft spout sippy cup. Just be prepared or him to make up for it the next day.

When I left Tristan for the first time, only about 4-5 hours at 7/8 months, I expressed as much as I could and left that for him. I also purchased some of the travel sticks of formula just in case I hadn't expressed enough.
I went by the 150ml per kg formula too.
