Thanks guys! Even better is that I just fed her again from starving attached without the shield again!!!!!!! XD
Im not expecting it to work every feed yet, but I know this is a HUGE step and I'm so happy because I now KNOW she can attach without the shield and feed well!!
DH and I are AMAZED she has had no nipple confusion in all this! She's had syringes, nipple shields, fingers, bottles and dummies! :O lol!
Well done to all of you!
Be a bit careful without the shields - if your nipple is coming out distorted (usually house-shaped) then there isn't enough in bubs mouth (usually the bottom bit you can't see needs to go in more), and it can make things sore.
Hope things continue to go really well.
Oh hun. I got very similar comments from my DH.
It took 6 weeks & lots of tears to establish feeding my DS (who was BFed for 23 months!)
And 10 weeks & lots of tears & stress with DD3.
That makes me soo happy to hear. Perseverance is the key hey??
Congratulations and good on you for sticking with it and now you can see the amazing job you hve done!!
Were going excellent! Haven't used a shield in a long time and she hasnt used a bottle either!
She's putting on an average of 200g per week, so just over average, but still gives me time to enjoy a small bubba
The poor thing has had a UTI and now has some reflux which were treating with some naturopath meds and seeing how that goes before we see a paed as it's not TOO bad yet and would rather not give her harsh meds until we have to.
But she's going so well! I'm so so relieved and proud we got through it! I can't thank you all enough!
