Length of time between feeds okay?

So in stark contrast to my last bf thread, DD has gone from eating hourly to 2-3 hourly! Sometimes even 4! She's just come through a wonder week and is doing a stack of new things, as well as sleeping during the day. I'm so used to feeding every hour that it's hard to remember what it's like to have all this extra time I am still offering boob every hour but she just refuses now. So I guess my question is, at her age (4 months) is 2-4 hours between feeds okay?

ETA should have been, sleeping MORE during the day.

Many babies feed 3-4 hourly from birth so at 4 months I can't see why it wouldn't be.

Sounds like you're both doing a great job, 2 -4 hours between feeds is fine

YEAH! Well that is fabbo news. She's been feeding hourly for the last month and a half and all of a sudden I don't know what to do with myself.

Tay isnt even 6 weeks old yet and she seems to randomly do fine with changing from hourly feeding to 4 hourly.. My boobs dont like it much though! lol. She is healthy and happy and by the looks of her with all her chubbyness, she clearly not underfed Keep up the great work xo

Yeah MM my boobs are having a hard time too. My left one is feeling sore and bruised in one spot and a little hard, so I'm massaging and doing hot and cold facewashers to head it off!

    Thanks all!

Yep, sounds totally normal! Don't panic, the sore boobs are normal as well - your supply will adjust to the new routine Isla is determining and things will settle down soon
Now, go have a long shower! Paint your toenails! Schedule your day so that you can go do a bit of clothes shopping without being interrupted constantly for feeds! Or... you know, just do the mummy thing and hang out in your jammies all day and catch those z's whenever you need to You're doing a fab job - see, we told you it wouldn't be like that forever and that you'd make it through! <3

It takes a few days for your bbs to adjust to a new pattern, whether that be feeding more or less. I used to express off for the first day or so to build up my freezer stash (and minimise my oversupply) when DD1 did this.

    Enjoy the extra time!
