lunch ideas for 1 year old

ok so ds is now well established on finger foods and he now doesn't choke when eating things he has to chew (previous posts are up about his choking etc).

what i need is some new healthy quick ideas for his lunches, for brekkie he has weetbix or some toast and lunch i like to give him different things like left overs from night before or sandwich with chicken and avocado etc and some fruit etc.. but i think he is getting a bit bored. For dinner he has what we have (unless of course we have takeaway, then he has soup and toast or scambled eggs or omelet etc)

when can they start eating ham or sandwich meats? I know they are full of salt so i haven't given him anything like that yet.

can anyone else suggest anything that i could make? i have made him a batch of apple and museli mini muffins and some chicken nuggets but these are more for snacks than lunch.

    thanks

Ahhh yes, i guess we would all get bored eating the same thing every day...same goes for kids. I try and give them as much variety as my pantry will allow....

Baked beans (drained) and grated low fat cheese
rissoles - home made with tomato sauce
    2 min noodles
raisin toast (who said you couuld only have it at breakkie time >>>!!!!!!!)
Cheese scones or muffins (mix grated cheese in or sprinkle on top)
    fruit kebabs

    Some bread fillings......

hommos, sliced tomato and sprouts or grated carrot
light cream cheese, grated carrot and sultanas (a fav here !!)
Chopped skinless chicken, low fat mayo and lettuce
    avocado and tomato...
I give my 1 year old devon occasionally, and she does like ham - i try and get the lean ham. Like everything, in small quantities and not every day....thats the rule i stick too.

    Good luck.....

I keep a batch of both mini vegetable and mini cheese muffins in the freezer as well as some vegie patties. These come in really handy for lunches, especially if I am in a rush or going out as they are easy to heat and pack. Olivia loves them! She is also a fan of sandwiches with cream cheese, grated carrot and grated cucumber. I find the baby rice cakes are handy too for something easy, just top with something yummy

If I'm stuck - my 'lil girl loves raisin toast - again who says you can only have it at breakfast...

Or if I'm organised, steamed vegetable fingers with a smidge of home made cheese sauce goes down a treat!

    baked beans were a favourite
little platter with cheese, ham, fruit and a tub of yoghurt
has he had egg yet? my dd loved a microwaved scrambled egg with lowfat cheese and vegies
    sandwiches
leftovers (If there were some and I was lazy)
    whatever I was eating
soup with lumps of bread broken into it, (thickens it up but still messy)

I second all the things you and the others have suggested, yum!

my 1yr old goes through phases and this week:
    DD is loving baked ricotta.
if you mix about 150/200g ricotta (from deli section) with some cheese, and other goodies then press about 2 tablespoons into a non-stick muffin tin and then bake till golden on top and set. They can be eaten warm or cold and can be made with anything you can come up with! I have make them with sundried tomatoes and mushrooms, silverbeet, grated zucchini and carrot.. the list is endless! (plus I love them as a snack too!)

DD also loves tuna, straight from the tin or on something, cherry tomatoes to eat like grapes, cold pasta or noodles to play with and eat, ohh, and on the 'why only at breakfast' theme, she looooves bircher muesli with yogurt any time of the day!

I often make a plate of bits n peices with some chopped up fruit and veggies, cheese chunks, ham, boiled egg quatered and a slice of buttered bread quatered. DD loves it! Otherwise an omlette with grated veggies like carrto, zucchini, mushrooms and cheese. Half an avocado with some crackers and hummos (DD loves this too). Boiled eggs with toast fingers. Potato salad with peas, corn, carrot and tuna (sounds yuck, but DD loves it and it's actually pretty yum!) Mini pizza made from muffins or pita pockets with tomato paste, a slice of ham, a peice of pineapple (tinned) and grated cheese on top, grilled. Jaffles with egg or baked beans or tinned spaghetti or tuna and cheese or ham and tomato(careful can get really hot!), or chicken cheese and avocado...lots of fillings here!
