    milk bar breastfeeding pillow?? thoughts?

Some of you may have seen the funny shaped pillow available at baby stores, retails for around $70. I am thinking on buying it, one mother friend of mine swears by it. Since i was not successful at breastfeeding the first time, I am determined to try hard again this time.

Has anyone who has had trouble with breastfeeding found it helps?

I've seen them, can't comment though as never tried one. I use a normal pillow or cushion, works for me.

You could try some other things to prepare you for success this time round - have you considered a Breastfeeding education class with the Australian Breastfeeding Association?

I have a "My Brest Mate" one, is it similar to that? My pillow was really helpful at the start when I couldn't get the hang of feeding Amelia in my arms - though if you're going to use one, don't get lazy and have a loose grip on baby. She rolled off once onto the bed because I let go to scratch my head and didn't realise the pillow was tilted a little

I didn't use it long enough to justify the high cost though, so that's something to think about.

I had 2 of these and loved them. Check out ebay to see if you can pick one up cheaper. I run a group on Facebook for babies & kids items in my local area and I sold both of mine on there for $15 each. If you have something similar for your area, check them out as we often have breast feeding pillows pop up for sale in our group.

I wasn't a fan, I found it was too high so I was trying to balance the baby and pull my boob up to his face which was super painful, especially in the early days. I ended up using a normal pillow off my bed.

Definitely check eBay or Gumtree as I only paid $10.

Thanks for your thoughts, i will look on ebay/gumtree for a bargain, though, have you noticed how hard it is to get a real bargain on ebay anymore?! its all shops and professional sellers...which are ok, i would love to have a seperate ebay for non shop people....anyway!

I never tried one. I used regular pillows or rolled up towels a few times but generally found arms alone easier. I'd see if you can borrow one to test or get one second hand before committing to buying one.

I used a pillow with DD but bought a Milk Bar this time around. I found the pillow wasn't always tall enough. Haven't used it yet as I'm not due til next year. But I'm quite tall so I think the height should work well. Got it on sale at Bambini pronto.

I have one I used with DS1 and found it great and really portable. Especially cos it was consistent positioning no matter where we were which helped with our attachment issues. I have yet to use it this time around (whole 48hrs or so lol) cos DS2 seems to be a bit of an old hand at feeding but even if I don't use it at home I will still take it with me.

sent from my watzamajig so may not make sense....

I love ours. but i do think it is about preference so would be tempted to check out ebay/gumtree first, and then babystore

I just used my boomerang pillow too. I tried a special breastfeeding pillow and found them really uncomfortable and annoying lol.

I had one with DD1 but I am really short in the torso and it was ridiculously high so I hated it.
I had another GF who loved it though (she got one after trying mine). Only prob was that she could only BF with it and it's not always an option to have it with you.

Nothing like a cuddle from DD after a hard day's work!

I use a target brand one. Less than half the price and works for me
