Good luck, what a crazy run around! I hate the way they make it so difficult to do something as simple as feeding your baby.

I was prescribed 100 at a time, although my GP did refuse to prescribe more than 3 rounds. At that point I tried accupuncture instead and it actually worked better for me.

Well my doc supplied 100 nil repeats and was reluctant about it.

She said the reason why is because they are expensive and is unsure why I would want to pay that much for them...UMmm...to breastfeed my baby you ^%$

She will not supply more than that! ?

This is a drug for nausea for goodness sake-what the hell is the big deal? I just want to breastfeed my baby!!

They make me feel like I'm a druggie wanting heroin.

Argh OP! That is crap! My Dr did the same as alot of the PP did. 100 tabs with repeats.
I know what it's like to be in a one medical centre town, so you have my sympathy

I'm surprised at how much it has gotten to me- sounds dramatic but I feel like everyone is against me breastfeeding...shouldn't be this hard should it..

ahh, at least I have 3 weeks supply now-will find a doc in another town that will give me a couple of months supply seen I'm such a druggie

I wonder if you can complain to the ABA about your doctor? She seems to be encouraging you to formula feed by DIScouraging you from continuing to express! Hardly helpful to a new mum coming to her, having trouble breastfeeding...

Have just PMd you, hope it's helpful

Unfortunately Keike, there's not alot that the ABA can do. We would love to set straight all the Drs who encourage formula feeding! The reality is that most of them are short on time and information.......ABM seems like the quick fix.

    Thanks Janie- big help!

I have to agree thatr Drs do seem to be alittle short of info and not really willing to help a new mum persevere with breastfeeding...sad really.

I think it's because alot of people see puting baby on the bottle as an option that is 'easier'.
Some don't understand the 'want' of some Mothers to do everything in their power to keep feeding.
I know I had no support AT ALL when DS15 was born. Within 2 weeks he was on formula which shattered me.
Not one person was prepared to help me keep breastfeeding.

When I had the same issue with DS5 I had an amazing nurse practitioner who did everything in her power to keep me breastfeeding.... I b/f him for 30 months Not one other Doctor was willing to help.

I hope you find a new dr that is supportive of your decision to b/f no matter what

    Thankyou!

I think what does upset me most is that there isn't alot of support or info out there for these doctors and that me as a mum is made to feel like this...it is very shietful!!!

    Three words: Health Services Commissioner

Here's how to make a complaint

You also need to let the doctor know that it is your intent to make a complaint. This may well be enough to get yourself what you want. Failing that, quote it to the clinic/centre next time you call - let them know that if you don't get what you want that you intend to make a complaint. It might get you a bit further.
