    Need some relief

MIL decided we are staying here for tea, I couldn't express before I left the hospital as all the pumps were being used and I thought I'd be home soon so it didn't matter.
My boobs are so full it hurts, do I just hand express into the sink in the bathroom or something? Wouldn't it take ages doing it that way to get enough relief?
    I'm open to all suggestions!!

Hand express into a bottle or container if you desperatly need to store it or for a quick easy fix jump in a warm shower and express there, warmth helps milk flow and eases discomfort. Won't take long once you start in warm shower. If you are doing it to store use a warm face washer on breast.

I'd give it a go if you're really uncomfortable. Can you jump in the shower? The warm water might help it along. I was always crap at hand expressing, but I managed in the shower to get some relief once. Failing that maybe someone could duck to a chemist to get a little hand pump?

    Hi,
You need to express not only for comfort, but to keep up your milk supply for your babies - when your breasts are uncomfortably full they are signalling your body to *stop* making milk. And to avoid mastitis.

It is amazing how you can take the crash course on hand expressing when you really need to.
with 2 small babies to feed it's not really up to MIL to decide you will be staying at her place for tea. sometimes there are greater needs. She will have a lot of times to have you all over for tea when the babies are home.
You should look at getting onto the Australian breastfeeding Association and hiring your own pump - it's awful to have to wait in a queue.

A breast pump for home is essential with a bub (or bubs) in hospital. I hired mine from the Childrens and kept it even when DD was transfered to Bendigo.
I expressed for 7 weeks. It's hard work and you're in my thoughts.

Oh, and ditto the shower! Hand expressing isn't so bad once you start.

Warm bath would probably help too. I'd tell her the truth your engorged boobs come with you staying for tea! Have a warm bath and see if you can express in there while you're waiting to eat

with the pump you have hired...put some masking tape or a bandaid or something like that on it, then write your name on the tape.....you can thentake the tape off when you have finished with it.

And yeah just tell your MIL you are in pain and need to express...I am sure she will understand.....

I hired my own pump yesterday too, it's the same as the hospitals so im a bit timid at taking it in and it going missing as we don't really have anywhere to store our things.
I wonder if I wrote on it and used bail polish remover to take it off before the hire is up
