Why do women have to attack each other on basic things? Big deal - breast feeding or formula feeding. Surely there are bigger issues to deal with in a Childs life. When they go to school who will really care about what milk they had as a baby?

I was ff as a baby, I'm ok. My mum was lucky to get food as a child. I think the most important ingredient for children is love, happiness and stability. Something you can never buy or just feed them. Who really cares! Stop making other women feel bad.

You only need to search my posts in the past and I have said it over and over again, that women should have choice, some women cannot breastfeed, I have sympathies for those who can't breastfeed for psychological issues like sexual abuse and badly damaged nipples etc. But not ONCE will you find me saying you have failed your children, not made the right choice etc. Thats what others may have come to the conclusion to based on your own interpretations on what I say and/or feelings. I posted a news article about a machine!

really, both BF anf FF mummys should be trying to eliminate as much landfill as possible. both BF anf FF babies will inherit the rubbish we leave behind....

I am appalled by the comment about ff babies and cancer. Was that really necessary in this thread? Actually was it necessary at all? You said this wasn't turning into a ff vs bf debate and then make a comment like that?

I just read the guidelines and it seems I didn't prepare formula to the WHO standards either . So, it doesn't make me care any more or less.

Me either Tinks and to make it worse DS gets his bottles at room temp. I dont heat them up at all.

Waste! We are all guilty of this living in a modern society. Otherwise we'd all be on a farm living off the land. We buy computers then get rid of them when the technology changes, same with phones. Toys for kids, ducted air conditioning, plastics etc etc etc

Oh well he is happy and has never complained. what if i was out somewhere with no access to heat it up cause dont forget according to the WHO microwaves are bad for heating them up.

I couldn't care less if anyone formula fed or breast fed. Their body, their baby, their decision. I would never tell anyone their choice was the wrong one.

But i do care about informing people...... i think there is a big difference.

I think that is really important. Inform people but don't step over that line by telling them they are doing the wrong thing either way.

Absolutely DanniM, i don't think it's ever anyone's place to tell someone else, that in their opinion what the other person is doing is wrong. Women FF for so many reasons, far be it for me to judge them.

It's quotes like this that are wrong. It is just plain misleading. If they said 'A comprehensive nutrition system' Then perhaps it wouldn't be quite as wrong. BF'ing is clearly the FIRST. But it's statements like that that lead under educated women to believe they should forego BF'ing b/c this new system is the first one ever to provide comprehensive nutrition?! I think the thread points out the flaws in that statement, and that is important. Like i've said before i don't think it's a big issue for someone who is able to make an informed decision. It's the women who i live with that take this advertising as gospel who i worry about.

But surely horrific and unethical behaviour is just a symptom of modernity and thus excusable. After all morality is just a social construct and whilst depleting rainforests for palm oil and marketing formula to people with low incomes and no access to clean water might seem unethical to some, to the billionaires who own Nestle it is a justifiable protection of their bottom line. Arguably, the morals of a few wealthy Swiss people are just as valid as those of us who don't like it when women are exploited for profit
