    Odd Food Problem

Or possibly not but it is getting a little frustrating!

Basically, I cannot eat something if my daughter (2.5) does not want it and when she wants to eat something, I have to have exactly the same. So say, she wants an apple then I have to have an apple. It becomes a huge tantrum if say she wanted an apple but I felt like a pear or if I wasn't hungry at all and didn't want anything. If she is having vegemite on her toast, then I have to have vegemite... huge battle if I want peanut butter or honey. If I feel like a yogurt and she isn't hungry, she will become distressed until I stop eating it. I can never eat when she isn't hungry and I can never eat something different to her.

I'm not sure where this came from, she is a good eater and tries new things etc. We did BLS and so usually have always eaten the same things but not sure why she is so distressed/annoyed when I want to eat and she doesn't or she has something slightly different (by her own choice, not forced or anything, I don't eat anything she isn't able to have too and she always has the choice!). It isn't a huge problem as she is a good eater and so I'm getting a varried diet and all of that but you know, sometimes I just want peanut butter and it can't be good for her to have such a hang up over eating exactly as I am? Anyone ever been through this? Have any ideas how to resolve it? I try to explain to her that this is for Mummy and she doesn't have to have it, she has her own but she just gets so distressed trying to steal my food to put in the bin. It isn't even as though she asks for vegemite, sees me having peanut butter and then changes her mind and decides she wants peanut butter, she won't share it with me or have the peanut butter option if I make another or anything, she wants it completely gone and for me to have the same as her.

    Any ideas out there?

Can you make a big plate with a few different things on them and then share it - that way she might see that it's ok to like different things.

This rings a bell with my DD when she was around the same age. I would just explain to her that this is what mummy would like/don't want and that's ok because we all like different things. Yes, she did throw tantrums but they got further and further between and shorter in duration.

    Good luck.
