My little man is just over six months and we started him on solids 4 days ago. He's just having 1 feed of pureed carrots per day and he LOVES it!
His poos are worrying me though. He's gone from doing 1 poo a day to around 5 and they are very watery. Should I be worried?
Hi,
Is your baby breastfed or bottlefed? How is he otherwise? Does he seem well?
Is there any chance he could have a co-incidental case of diarrhea?
Cautiously I would say stick with what you are doing and see if it improves. Is there a history of allergies or food intolerances in the family?
Hi Barb,
He is bottlefed and otherwise fine. Very happy and doesn't seem to have an upset stomach.
He has been sick (chest and ear infection) and that has just cleared up in the last week. I tried him on pumpkin a few weeks ago and he had an eczema reaction. My naturopath and homeopath cleared him up and advised to wait another month before trying again. The reason I've only waited a few weeks is that he has been waking for an extra 2 bottles at night (previously he was sleeping through without a bottle) and still taking the same amount during the day. When we eat he opens his mouth as wide as he can and tries to get at the food and cries when we don't give him any.
We don't have any history of allergies or intolerances in the family.
Ok, so your baby has allergies. No-one in the family has eczema or asthma at all? (they are allergic conditions and usually hereditary) What sort of formula on? Just normal cows milk? Have things settled down a bit in the poo department? I would take solids very slowly and you might want to consult a doctor or a dietician experienced in children with allergies
