Hi lovelies
Bubs and I are having a terrific BFing journey- all is working well feeding wise. Just wondering if any of you have experienced soreness in your boob near your armpit? It's not hot, and there are no lumps... but it's quite sore, starting to radiate, even when I lift my arm.
I'm not sure if it's something to do with my boob, or the fact that DS just went into a harness, so I'm lifting him differently. He's still feeding really well on that side- but is this what mastitis feels like?
TIA
K
PS- he's feeding MORE at the moment, not less

Awesome to hear that you guys are off to a great start with BFing!!! It sounds similar to what I had just last week...turned out to be blocked ducts. Couldnt feel any lumps until the slight swelling went down and then the pea sized lumps were very prominant sooooo perhaps you can try a nice hot shower massaging your boob from the sore spot out towards your nipple and it will hurt like holy hell to start with, then a warm pack before you feed, positioning bubs nose (I think it is) on that spot. Also try some nice relieveing cold packs just to ease the discomfort.
Hang in there, you are doing a great job feeding DS
It's hard to know - it could be either. I would probably work on the basis that it might be a blocked duct and try to clear it. Warm compress before feeding, feed from that side as often as you can, massaging it gently, cold compress after a feed. Changing feeding positions on that side might help too. If it gets worse maybe try hand expressing in a warm shower, leaning forward into a bath or bowl of warm water and hand expressing or feeding on all fours so that gravity is working with you.
