The health nurses told me that grated apple was really good too.
Interesting, thanks for that. DS has a tiny red mark on his mouth from the apple skin - i think it is too sharp.

He has been totally disinterested in anything that i have given him lately. My mother said Oh, keep trying blah blah, but I'm not going to force feed him! I keep offering, he keeps basically refusing, so that's fine. He still wants whatever I am eating though, but i guess it's just a curiosity thing. The BF's are going great at the mo, and he seems happy and settle most of the time, so I figure that he isn't hungry - just curious. But wow - he can fling food for miles from that spoon!

Lenny - why dont you give him what you are eating then?
We give MJ the same thing as us, or we feed her when we are not eating.
Sometimes a lot will go in sometimes she just plays with it - there is nothing wrong with letting them play and taste new things

    lol thats hilarious lenny!
i always just give what we are eating becase thats when he wants it. he doesnt have a need for schedule yet so i only offer when its clear that he wants it. it works for him, it works for us and its clear to see he reallk enojys it learning rather than eating anyway

njd - Jordan was about 5 months and 1 week in those videos - he is just over 6 months now. You can tell re the reflex if they push the food back out, or try swallowing. It has pretty much been a one way street with food from the word go here, so we were always confident he was ready!

Updates from us - he is LOVING mutligrain toast with avocado - would say that is his favourite! My first batch of home made bread (by hand) is rising as we speak so he can try some of that later!

He has really gotten better at picking up the food off the high chair "table" now, and is quite efficient at getting it into his mouth ehhehe, lightning fast hands lol

We are doing baby led weaning here too, it is great fun!

I found a blog while trawling the internet looking for info about BLW which was very inspiring for me, this mum is passionate about the process and her trial and error in BLW makes it very human. She followed her son from his first tastes to his first year and then passed on the baton to other mums. The link is here if anyone is interested. She also has some good links to other info on the web.

Hi Jackrose, I found that blog too when i was starting and it helped me decide that this was the way that we were going to go, there is another one, banana somthing, cant rememeber, if i find it again i will post a link.

Roquen - VERY cute pics Do you find that much goes in? MJ pulls apart 'sandwiches' and sucks and chews them, loves the taste, but not actually sure that loads goes in...

MJ loves fish... i am going to have to figure out ways of giving it to her. Cant rememebr if i mentioned, but gave her orange the other day, she realyy enjoyed it
After lunch yesterday, i was pretty sure that she was finishes, looked like nothing left in her mouth and she wasnt chewing etc... anyway i was changing her nappy and she sneezed and this small chuck of toast went flying out of her mouth onto my face think i will check better this time

MJ has been off her milk these last few days, just playing and not taking much in...
I have not given her solids if i dont think that she is having enough as i dont want her to drop a feed as she is having heaps of solids.
Gave her mashed up banana yesterday - what a mess that was.

We are going out for Dinner tomorrow night (my 30th birthday is today) - anyone else eaten out yet and done BLS... i was wondering if you took food with you or if you let them share your food...

Jesse had some chicken pasta bake with us on Tuesday night, then had chicken rissoles & pasta last night. Shepards pie on Monday. He's loving it all!
I sometimes still try to feed him some mashed stuff here & there. Potato, pumpkin & broccoli for dinner, but he was refusing it. I couldn't work out why.
Then this morning I was trying to give him some weetbix. We worked it out!
He won't eat unless HE'S holding the spoon. So I put the weet bix on, then let him hold it while I guided it to his mouth.
He was happy to eat it then.

How long does it take for them to start swallowing food?
Alex loves to taste and munch and make a mess but he doesn't swallow it.
I'm not worried about him getting hungry, moreso wondering when he will start swallowing it.
Last night he had some broccoli bit off the whole tree and turfed the stalk and then munched it up but five minutes later dribbles out this whole mouth full of it!
It's pretty cute but very messy.
He is enjoying just about everything so far.

Happy Birthday SJ, I hope you have a nice day with MJ and family. I think if it were me i would just share what i have. I often go out for lunch just to do something for me and give him bots and pieces of what is on my plate.
